What Makes It Awesome
If you’ve never been to Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park (highly unlikely because this hotel has been around for ages and if you’re a night owl you’ve probably visited the club Gatsby 2000 many a drunk night), do check out their 24-hour coffee shop, Cappuccino. Expect round-the-clock global cuisine by Chef Deva Kumar and Sous Chef Kalidoss and a casual, laidback vibe. You might even get to hear off-the-field encounters with famous cricketers like Dhoni and Bravo if you chat with the chef here. Fun!
So what did we like? The Arugula Goat Cheese Salad is to-die-for. A simple dish, big on flavour thanks to the marriage of candied walnuts, citrus fruit, and goat’s cheese. For appetizers try the crispy shrimp rolls, crab cakes (that honestly taste like a bite of the sea, so fresh) and the Murgh Anghara (succulent bits of chicken marinated in traditional spices) that you must have with the sweet date chutney over the mint, trust us on this. Those who enjoy soup, try our favourites – the creamy Wild Mushroom Soup for vegetarians, or authentic Singaporean Katong Laksa for you meat-eaters (get this with juicy bits of prawns).
Dessert was a work of art, to be honest. We destroyed with glee, the Chocolate Cheese Cake but we hear the Warm Chocolate Pudding with ice cream is one of their most iconic dishes. Wash it all down with a tumbler of soodu filter kaapi and you’re set!
What Could Be Better
We weren’t fans of the BBQ Pizza which apparently is a big hit here. It tasted a bit sweet and was confusing to the palate.
