5 Destinations In India You Have To Visit This Year

The information in this post might be outdated

India is a rich, diverse country; the perfect holiday destination. Even though you live here, there are so many one-of-a-kind experiences to taste, so many sites to visit, that it is easy to get lost in it all.  Each travel destination within our country has a different landscape and heritage, a different food and local culture.

So, to celebrate that diversity, we teamed up with V Resorts to find five destinations in India you must visit this year.

Ranakpur

Ranakpur is located in the Pali district of Rajasthan. The area is one of the most famous places in the district, and all because of the impressive marble Jain temple {said to be one of the most stunning Jain temples}. Culturally and architecturally significant, the temple is one of the world’s major religious sites.

While staying in Ranakpur, we prefer the V Resorts Aranyawas Ranakpur resort. Not only can you visit the surrounding areas in ease, but can enjoy luxurious evenings in your downtime. The imposing Kumbhalgarh fort is close by and you can also explore the nearby wildlife sanctuary, go camel riding, shopping, on village tours, stargazing or fishing.

Ranikhet

With some of the best views you can get of the Himalayas, Ranikhet is a cosy hill station close to Delhi. Located in Uttarakhand, this spot is well known for its plethora of leopards and jungle cats, as well as being an Army cantonment.

Our favourite spot to chill when in Ranikhet is the cute V Resorts Queens Meadows resort. You’ll have to take a trek through the forest, with stunning Himalayan views, to even make it to the resort. With eight villas and seven luxury tents, you choose how and where you stay. Go trekking, rock climbing, paragliding or tour the surrounding villages and temples.

Sunderbans

One of the most unique locations in our country, the mangrove forests of the Sunderbans and their most noble guest, the Royal Bengal Tiger, are known worldwide. The ancient delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers over 10,000 square kilometres and has a rich ecological and cultural history.

If you’re ever in the Sundarbans you can’t do much better than getting a room at the V Resorts Mangrove Sundarban resort— the perfect base to stay at while you go angling, exploring, birding and wildlife spotting. Expect to explore the waters of the delta via boat, attempt to spot the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, and visit the local hatchery for crocodiles.

Sariska

Home to the small Sariska Tiger Reserve and National Park, the Sariska area is a short drive from Delhi. A small reserve with only a few tigers, it has a rich area filled with innumerable Indian animals such as the striped hyena, the Indian leopard, the jackal, sambhar, nilgai and many more.

When in the area we enjoy staying at V Resort’s Sariska property where you can lounge by the or participate in the exciting safaris, stargazing, and heritage tours to the 4,500 year-old ruins of Jain and Shiva temples. Relax at the eco-friendly, semi-tented outdoor spaces or laze by the decks and take in the fabulous views of the Aravallis.

Biksthang, Sikkim

The tranquil hamlet of Biksthang in Sikkim is a gorgeous getaway. The looming Mt. Khangchendzonga is king here, dominating the background and the landscape. The surrounding area is littered with Buddhist monasteries, a sweet little organic farm that makes its own wine, and an awesome hot spring with rejuvenating qualities.

When in Biksthang one of the most comfortable locations to stay at will be the V Resorts Bliss Village. With awesome local food available at the restaurant, comfortable rooms with their own verandahs and a stunning view of the mountains, you can’t go wrong at this 7-acre property.
