What Is It?

The Fern Samali resort in Dapoli, is a beautiful resort that offers guests the best of both worlds – mountain, and sea. Touting themselves as ‘environmentally sensitive’, the resort is a tasteful blend of old-world charm and modern creature comforts.

How Do I Get There?

The resort is around 190 – 200km away from Pune, and will take you approximately 5 hours to get here by road. Getting here by road is the quickest option, or else you can travel by railway to Khed {an 8 hour train ride, via Panvel}, and then hire a car from there to the resort {an hour’s drive away}, in Dapoli.

What Did I Like?

Nestled in the hilly foothills of the Western Ghats, soak in their stellar panoramic views of the landscape, while also being just a short distance away from the beach. The resort houses 16 cottages and 22 rooms, each room also comes with their own little sit-out veranda, for you to make the most of {hint: it’s great for morning breakfasts, and watching the sun set}. It’s classy, romantic, and private – ideal for a getaway with your S.O.!

Their in-house restaurant, Zhilan, features a multi-cuisine menu, al-fresco seating, and both buffet and à la carte style meals. Enjoy a drink and snack at their well-stocked bar – Quiana, as you wind down after a long day. If y0u don’t want to step out, the resort also has an amphitheatre {where live performances take place before dinner}, a yoga center, gift shop, conference hall, spa and massage center, a gym {with steam and sauna}, swimming pool, and activity zones for kids and adults.

If you feel like exploring the local attractions – the resort can help you make the necessary travel and sight-seeing tour arrangements. The town of Dapoli is 3km {10 mins} drive away, Ladghar Beach is a 5km {15 min} drive and Murud beach is a little further – 14km (30 mins) drive away from The Fern Samali. Activities at the beach include dolphin watching, parasailing and banana-boat rides, to name a few.

Anything Else?

The room fares are moderately expensive – but for this level of comfort and style, we think it’s a steal. Before you book, check out the offers section of their website here to avail exclusive discounts and packages.

#LBBTip

The resort provides bicycles for you to explore their landscaped property and surrounding fruit orchards, and on occasion, they even host a campfire and outdoor BBQ at night! This is also one of the only resorts we’ve come across that is dog-friendly. Bring along your fur-baby on your next vacay – dogs are exclusively permitted in the Magnolia & Lillian Cottages, at an extra charge.
