We dedicate a majority of our time to scouting the coolest places in and around the city, just so you Delhiwaalas and NCR'ers can have your own Little Black Books of places to go to and things to do. As part of this initiative, we proudly present Volume 1 of our Bar Directories. Kicking off this week with mid-level drinking places, for the high street bar goers with the occasional spurt of indulgence. Stay tuned for our next two lists, also customized for different budgets and brews.
The Beer Café | It can’t be denied – there come those times when you know that short of the world coming to an end, your day must end in beer. If the world is coming to an end and you have a manic craving for just one sip of your favourite Berliner Weisse or Belgian Abbey, The Beer Café at Cyber Hub can help you. With an exhaustive list of bottled beer from around the world, we got tired just looking at the variety. Pass a cold one on, please.

Terrace at IGR | The Indian Grill Room saves its best space for its drinking patrons. Its rather large terrace in split into three sections over two levels, making it feel roomier. On a cool evening, with its neat little pond bang in the centre, it makes for a perfect al fresco spot. The music tends to swing between electronic beats reminiscent of an Ibiza beach, and retro music you could have only heard on an actual cassette. But then again, what’s wrong with island party music or the soundtrack to the ‘90s?

Cocktails and Dreams Speakeasy | We thought everything to be said about this speakeasy had pretty much already been said, but it just wasn’t possible to leave our favourite watering hole out of this list. If their rather clever cocktail list wasn’t enough, you’re also likely to walk in on a live gig or theatre on a few days of the week.

Imperfecto | We’ll be forced to hang out a fair few times at Imperfecto, only to unselfishly bring you a clear picture of what’s great at this Hauz Khas import into Gurgaon. But in the meanwhile, if you fancy a pitcher of sangria, we’d have to point you in this direction.

The Wine Company | If you feel like continuing your quest for sangria, head to the ground floor at Cyber Hub, to The Wine Company. If you know your medium-bodied from full-bodied wine, or a fruity from a floral, you won’t be disappointed with their 120+ wine varieties to choose from. If you’d like to brush up on your wine knowledge, they even hold classes with a sommelier on some days in the month.

Club Rhino | An honourable mention must be made for the thumping {on most days of the week} Club Rhino. For those who feel like a mid-week session of dancing like no one is watching, the dance floor and DJ at Club Rhino are at your service. If you’d prefer some background music while you catch up with friends, you could enjoy cocktails on the balmy terrace too.

SOI 7 | A microbrewery with up with Asian cuisine, a performance stage, a boxing ring and three different sections to choose from. Choose from one of their four different brews, or if you're looking to pack in a punch, enjoy sweaty men fighting while you down some signature Soi 7 punch. For all you corporates heading there for an after work drink, we suggest you go on a Tuesday; you'll be entitled to a 20% discount on your bill.

7 degrees Brauhaus | Another Gurgaon Microbrewery, heres one thing you probably didn't know - 7 degrees runs a Beer Enthusiasts Club, signing up for which entitles you to all kind of rewards and discounts, all beer related of course.

Hungry Monkey | Atleast one of our staffers has Hungry Monkey on her speed dial. With a divine menu, they just upped the ante with their newly acquired liquor license. Bookmark for a drinks {oh hello cocktails} and dinner soiree, and if its your lucky night, you can watch it transform into a high-energy bar. Come better weather, always ask for a table on the terrace.

Monkey Bar | We have to say it gets a little too crowded for our liking on the weekends, so we strongly recommend going early, since they don't take reservations. Another winner for when you're in the market for drinks and a worthy meal. What you must order - the Copper Monkey and Manga.

Raasta | With a jam-packed event calendar, Raasta is one of the few bars that has still managed to preserve its charm over the many months. With a Cyber Hub twin as well, block your calendars for their karoake nights and live gigs.

Fio Cookhouse and Grill | Slowly transforming into a banger of a night club, Fio Cookhouse and Grill actually serves up a fairly exhaustive range of cocktails. If you're heading over on the night of a gig, please ensure you book yourself a table. Fio is steadily gaining popularity and gets jam packed on gig nights.

Sakley’s The Mountain Café | The hills are alive with the sound of Greater Kailash. Sakley's provides a perfect sanctuary of sorts {for when drinks are the only thing on your agenda}, and also hosts regular jazz and acoustic gigs, so it can come alive with the sound of music as well.

Uzuri Deck and Dining | Perched on the third floor in the middle of GK 2 market, Uzuri has a great ambient, almost candle-lit terrace. Too bad you can't sit there in this weather, but bookmark it for the winter. Perfect for small and intimate cocktail nights.

Blue Frog | Probably the best live gig venue in all of the Capital, Blue Frog is only worth visiting on the night a guest artist is playing {which is every weekend}. We don't recommend just stopping by for a drink.
