What Is It?

They say it takes 21 days to create a habit, and this group of enthusiastic runners, is hoping that with the #100DaysOfRunning initiative, fitness will be a lifestyle. A movement that began in 2015 to encourage people to make running a part of their life, the event challenges you to run everyday, consecutively for 100 days. Once you sign up, you need to log your run length and timings. But there’s no pressure. As long as you clock in a minimum of two kilometres a day. OK, you can’t take two hours to do it. But as long as you run or jog, it’s counted. The event usually kicks off with all participants assembling at one place in the city, with pro runners starting off the challenge, so make sure you get your inspiration on Day 1.

Who Is It For?

While it seems like only committed runners or fit folk should sign up for this, it’s the opposite. If your idea of fitness equals walking to the kitchen to get a bag of crisps between two episodes of a show on Netflix, this one’s for you. Hit the gym for two hours every morning? This is also for you. The whole idea is to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. If you always wanted to get fitter, this is the ideal start as you have to clock in your run, and that itself is motivating. Especially since you get disqualified if you miss clocking in on a particular day. Psst, from experience, they give you the odd day to log what you miss, but why cheat?

Why Should I Sign Up?

If you’re up for a challenge, then this is a great one. It’s not too difficult, but it is demanding enough. Not only will you be physically tested, but more importantly, the mind will be put to task. After all, the legs will only do what the head tells it to! I signed up last year for #100DaysOfRunning, and it’s become an addiction. I am now on my 310th day of running, consecutively, and it is such an amazing feeling of accomplishment. So go on, try it out. You can run anywhere, anytime, with anyone you want, as long as you run for two kilometres, daily. Some days you want to just not get out of bed, but when you do, and you cross the finish line in your mind, that sense of success is unparalleled! If you need some stats, how about 9,88,010kms. That’s how much all the participants ran collectively last year. Ready. Set? See you on track. Let’s do this!

When: April 28, 2018, onwards
