Get Your Shopping On: 5 Local Brands To Check Out At The August Fest This Weekend

Suzanna posted on 04 August

Ten-Second Takeaway

There’s a flea market coming up and you know what that means! Time to shop till you drop and get your hands on merch from quirky upcoming brands. The August Fest is in town this weekend at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, so now’s your chance to score some cute apparel, accessories and decor, and max out that credit card {most likely Paytm and cash will work too}. Here are some of the brands setting up shop there, that we have our eyes on.

Leafy Affair For Terrarium Jewellery

Wear a terrarium around your neck with the cutesy accessories from Leafy Affair that makes mini terrariums with preserved colourful moss, bark, pebbles in small glasses jars, bulbs and bottles, with a cork holding it all inside. These mini terrariums come in necklaces, earrings and even charm bracelets that would add dimension to any look and outfit. They even make lockets and bookmarks with Dandelion seeds and resin preserved flower lockets. Read more about them here.

Find them on Facebook here.

Price: between INR 699–1,099

Chic Ethnic And Indo-Western Apparel From RAPCHICK

From pretty kurtas and tunics to colourful and comfy palazzos and straight cut pants, RAPCHICK is in the business of fun and trendy womenswear that doesn’t break the bank. In bold and well as understated colours and prints, women everywhere can find something that suits their preferences and deserves closet space. We spotted a bright yellow polka dotted dress on the brand’s Facebook Page that we’re hoping will be on offer at the venue too.

Price: between INR 800-2,500

Decor From NIkaara

Glass lanterns, elegant candle stands, trays and dream catchers, spruce up your home with these pretty decor accessories available at Nikaara. If their store in Whitefield is too much of a distance for you to travel, catch the decor brand’s pop up at this flea market and pick up a few of their pieces for the home.

Price: INR 190 onwards

Bombaat For Fun Graphic Tees

With funny one-liners and t-shirt slogans on them, the graphic tees from Bombaat are a great way to show the world that you’re a chill guy with a quirky sense of humour. Sticking mostly to Indianisms and regional references, this Bangalore-based brand is keeping it local and relatable. For instance, one of their T-shirts says ‘Saar! One and a Hoff Wonley’, a single statement that captures the full essence of our daily negotiation deals with our autowallas. Other punny gems include ‘Aunty-biotic’ and ‘Nut Raj’. They have glow-in-the-dark tees as well.

Price: INR 600 onwards

Planters From Zilpakala

Born out of a passion for arts and crafts, Zlipakala is a decor brand that makes handmade and eco-friendly terracotta products. Known mostly for quirky planters, the brands make quite a range of them in many colours and sizes that suit every space. We saw a fun range of  owl planters, which we heart. They also make terrariums that would look great in any space.
