What's Happening

Pondicherry based performance company Adishakti is bringing their latest production ‘Bali’ to Bangalore this February. An excerpt from the Ramayana, the play is a retelling of the various events that finally lead up to the battle between King Bali and the ruler of Ayodhya, Rama. It is a game of trust that ends with Rama treacherously killing Bali while his brother Sugreeva battles him. Having toured popular festivals like the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa and TATA Literature Festival in Mumbai, the play is highly praised for being “an extension of our daily life and not far removed from our reality”. Directed by Nimmy Raphael, the play is performed by actors Vinay Kumar, Arvind Rane, Ashiqa Salvan, Kiyomi Mehta and Rijul Ray. Showing at Ranga Shankara Theatre on February 23 and 24, Bali will go on at 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
