If you’ve been to Bangalore (or live here) and have gone to Commercial Street, and not gone into Anand Sweets And Savouries, you need to stop what you’re doing right now, and go there. Around for nearly 30 years now, and with nine outlets, Anand Sweets And Savouries (henceforth, fondly called Anand) is the place to go for proper motichoor laddoos, soan papadi, barfis, badam halwa and kaju katli that are known to be so amazing, they cause sibling wars during every festival for the last piece. I speak from experience!
Apart from a whole lot of other mithais (including a few sugar free options such as soan papadi and katlis), they do samosas, kachoris and chaat. Aloo samosa is a hot favourite snack for the LBB Crew to order during tea time, and the chaat too we love. Especially the Dahi Papadi and the Pani Puri. Bondas, pakodas and dhoklas will keep you happy if you don't have a sweet tooth. As will the section of namkeen. Divided into South Indian and North Indian, go all out on the boondi, murukku, mixtures and more. Oh! And the bakarwadi and ribbon chakkali that make tea time our favourite time of day. For the best of their festive and celebratory delights, try their hockey ball shaped navratan laddoos, made from sweet boondi and packed with the goodness of dry fruits.
When shopping on Commercial Street, stop by for a refreshing badam milk to beat the heat (especially during the summers) and a chatpati bhel puri session. You could even pre-order for weddings and festivals as they have options of gorgeous boxes which will save you the hassle of ordering them all separately. If you are out of town, then feel free to order away their mithais and gift boxes.
