Shortcut

Dive, the newest bar in Marathahalli wants you to ditch the normal dance floors in favour of its aquarium dance floor. And with flambe cuisines and boozy popsicles, it’s a menu that you will easily like.

Hit The Dance Floor

If you thought Skyye’s under-lit {and 16-floor-high} dance floor was as crazy as it can get, Dive in Marathahalli will make you rethink. Below the 24 mm thick glass panes of this unique dance floor, fish swim about without any care in the world {we were earlier worried for their well being} to the fact that hundreds of people are dancing away to anything from Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You {yeah, it’s on their playlist} to Honey Singh {yup, this too}. Come weekends, you now know where to head to shake a leg and of course, Instagram it away.

Dancers who might feel a little scared of stepping on to the surface, rest assured as we did probe the management of the safety features. The glass flooring weighs about 300 kilos in total, and should easily keep things sturdy. When it comes to the fish’s safety, there’s a one-foot gap added to the 24mm thickness, so like we said, the colourful fishies aren’t going to know what’s happening above.

Breezy Vibes

Dive’s open-air setting is perfect for enjoying that famed Bangalore evening breeze. In fact, the whole bar’s theme is that of water, so there’s a lot of shades of blue going on in the decor. it’s like being in Ibiza or even Santorini. Community seating dominates the layout, with almost a tent-like feel thanks to the white-blue flowy curtains, that add to the Mediterranean theme. If you are coming with a large group, they have spaces that can fit up to 20 people at a time. Oh, and there are even mattresses and bolsters on the floor, to add to the beach vibes. They have hookah too, so relax, unwind and blow away those Monday blues.

Of Flambes And Popsicles

The menu is a mix of Continental meets Oriental meets fusion fare with bar nibbles, substantial starters, and greasy sizzlers taking the top spot. Start off with the Wall Street Chilli Bhajji which comes with cheese stuffing before moving on to the Ravioli Mexicana that packs a punch. These two should keep you occupied while you order your alcohol. Margheritas, LIITs, and classic cocktails are all available in fish bowls and these are to share unless you want the whole bowl to yourself and be like the fish in the aquarium. They have sangria popsicles and jello shots too, so maybe order a couple of them along with your drinks.

Butter Chicken Lasagna, Quick Gun Murg-an, Cheese Burst Vada Pav, and Singapore Chili Crab are our picks from the starter section. Plenty of flambe drama with the Quick Gun dish that’s a little too spicy for many. Speaking of flambe, the Coffee-Infused Lamp Chops from the mains get the flame treatment. If you like lobster, they do three styles — Thermador, Thai, and Grilled. Pizza, and pasta complete rest of the menu.

So, We Are Thinking...

We are quite happy with the food, and we did like the idea of shaking a leg over an aquarium, but we can’t bring ourselves to make a trip to this place that often {traffic woes mainly}. IT folks who stay here, this one’s definitely for you.
