Healthy and filling, the new Ayurvedic Bento Box Lunch at Riwaz offers you a wholesome meal, and no need of guilt-tripping.
Riwaz (at The Ritz-Carlton)'s new culinary concept for the month, the Ayurvedic Bento Box Lunch (with a changing menu) combines fresh foods and nutritious ingredients, based on Aurvedic principles, to give you a flavourful yet healthy meal. While it may not sound appealing to many, Chef Atlamash has gone ahead and given interesting spins to the traditional dal chawal and bharta dishes. So, we suggest you ditch the burgers for a day (or two) and try this out. The box comes with a veg or non-veg option, so you can still fulfill your meat cravings and no worries about feeling overly full post-lunch.
The lunch affair here starts with a shot of Elixir, made with yogurt, cucumber juice and nutmeg powder, meant to cleanse your palette for the meal ahead. We tried the non-veg Bento Box which comes with portions of fish, chicken, dal, rice and rotis. The Lehsuni Machhli (a fillet of pomfret, marinated with garlic, coriander and onion seed) and the Bharwan Murgh ka Soweta (pieces of chicken supreme stuffed with minced chicken, and served on a bed of corn and yoghurt sauce) with its light and varied flavours (think a subtle blend of sweet, tangy and spicy) bowled us over. The Kaddu ka Bharta (mashed pumpkin), a quite unusual version of the bharta for us, was a surprise and not too sweet.
The Dal Faanu, made with ground lentils, is perfect to pair up with the portion of Steamed Brown Rice (lightly flavoured with coriander) or the Rotis (made of ragi or gluten-free flour). The wholesome meal ends with a dessert of creamy Quinoa and Brown Rice Pudding, sweetened with jaggery and coconut cream (from green coconuts). Healthy decadence! How about that, peeps?
