Bangalore To Host its First International Hemp Festival!

What is It?

Yes, you read that right. Plans have been approved for Bangalore to host the first edition of the International Hemp Festival {IHF}.

A collaboration between the state government and indie label The Hemp Collective, the IHF will be a celebration of all things hemp {and some things cannabis}, and will showcase Indian and international companies. Expect over 40 stalls and brands, from around the world.

IHF had initially been scheduled for April 20, but due to logistical strains and it clashing with the popular IPL, it has been pushed to late May.

What Will I Get?

There will be clothing labels, boutiques, and a whole lotta hemp products {wallets and bags anyone?} stalls. Expect hemp toiletries {body scrubs, lotions and oils}, lots of bags, shoes and flip flops {surprisingly sturdy!} and entire clothing lines cast from the material.

For those among you going to celebrate the plant, and not its derivative products, fret not. A section has been distinctly marked aside, and will feature a host of smoking paraphernalia, gadgets and gizmos. If you're looking for us, this is where we're going to be.

Anything Else?

There will of course be live music - expect tributes to Bob Marley, a few game stalls, and flame throwers from Africa. And what hemp festival is complete without food? The munchies shall be strong at this one, and as such the IHF has done us all a favour with plans for a huge food court, situated at the centre of the festival. With spots still available for restaurants, we expect the size of this food section to grow and grow till the big day arrives.

Where: Palace Grounds
