Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know the Bohemian style is IN and how. Not only in fashion, but so much more in home decor. The aesthetic, which originated in the 60s and 70s, is essentially inspired by natural materials, earthy colours and of course, hippie culture. And the Netflix show The June Motel has inspired us to add all of that and more to our home. Of course you can go all out, but we prefer to keep it simple - like the show. So here’s how we recommend you do up your home - living room, dining area and bedroom, to reflect those laid back vibes with these home accents, furnishings and decor...all The June Motel style.

Living Room Transformation

A more chilled out version of the all-out Bohemian trend, the June Motel is all about them 70s beach vibes. So if you want your living room to look similar, paint it white or cream, then make sure the furniture is rattan. Shop at these brands for the best of the rattan trend

Keep the windows all open as one dominant feature of the bohemian style is natural light. To dramatise it further, throw in a long mirror. This one by Aapno Rajasthan is perfect. Or add some edge with this three-piece triangle mirror set from Kaksh. On the other side of the room, have a little green space where you can add pots and planters. Check out Prakrti Garden Boutique. They nail the ceramic and jute trend with gorgeous planers starting at just INR 450.They also have macrame pot hangers; perfect if your living room opens onto the balcony. For a hint of quirk, check out this uber cute cup-saucer jute planter. As most Bohemian style homes do, add colour in a few corners. Do so in the form of this pair of classy red ceramic planters. Just enough to make it standout without going overboard.

For lighting, make sure to either get bamboo or macrame. Our pick is this inverted floral macrame ceiling lamp. While we’re on macrame, this envelope holder (or book/newspaper holder) HAS to go on one of your walls. For more subtle colour, these white and pink table coasters will make an excellent addition to your coffee table. Check out some coffee tables here. FabIndia, Urban Ladder, Pepper Fry and Lap & Dado are ideal for this. Plus, good old IKEA. Oh, and this Goa find Josmo.

To add to the whole cosy boho look, get some soft furnishings like rugs, throws and cushion covers from Sashaa World.

Bedroom Upgrade

The running theme of ‘retro-boho beach vibes’ also finds itself in the bedroom, only here things are designed to be more intimate, cosy and comfortable. Because, like the team of June Motel has rightfully said, ‘this is where you’ll be sipping on bubbly in bed and having all of the slow mornings’. This space features sand coloured walls and wooden flooring but it's the details that add character. Like the warm mustard coloured blanket against the otherwise plain white bedding. We’ve found a similar option in this Lyla Block Printed Quilt from Raame. Another key elements are the pendant lights that set the mood by casting a soft, warm glow; here’s an exact replica made from banana fibre and cane, both trending and sustainable choice of materials.

Other elements include a pop of bedside green - an indoor plant in a similar-looking sabai planter and a retro art print. GoingDesi has a lot of tasteful retro art prints (reinforcing the 70s style), this Old City Reflection print and Old School Cassette matches closest to what we see. You can also take things up a notch by adding boho maracame cushion covers (Aadyashre has a bunch of options) and pastel-coloured bed linen (check out Saphed) to this setup.

Kitchen & Dining Revamp

The kitchen and dining space featured in June Motel's Sauble Beach residence is one of their first projects! Featuring blush tones, whites, woven reed accents and splashes of gold, everything is light, classy, yet features plenty of urban Boho elements. IKEA is your best bet for tables and chairs, and larger furniture pieces to start with. Feel free to place a fern (or plant) in a metal planter like this one. Also those coloured glasses? Get them in a bunch of colours here from Willow, and the tropical-themed printed glasses from Strokes By Namrata Mehta. Don’t forget the minimalist coasters underneath.

Set the table with white dinner plates over water hyacinth placemats. If you need more grass and woven accents, check out Kopou. Add some glam with tall, gold-tone candle stands and hang a cane pendant lamp above it. While the kitchen features various shades of pink (Apricot Beige and Russet by Benjamin Moore), and white, feel free to accessorise with fruit baskets, minimalist cookie jars and artsy food-related accents. Pick up a vintage bar cart (and loads of Rose!), hang up this neon light for a pink glow (feel free to get other neon lights from this list of brands while you’re at it) and you’re set. If you're looking for home accessories and accents that encompasses this vibe, check out Hollyhock.

Bathroom Makeover

June Motel’s bathroom design is clean and minimal. The focus is on function. The centrepiece here is a beautiful circular vanity mirror. This Pocket Mirror from Mohh comes closest to what’s featured, plus for convenience, it has a shelf attached to it for all your toiletries. The lights are pretty basic (large, front-facing white bulbs on either side of the mirror), so go with these Copper Boro Wall Scones that are similar but have an industrial edge to them. For some pizazz and to tie back to the 70s aesthetic, a pretty white planter on the counter, and a retro art print on the sidewall also make it to this setup.
