Good Things come in Small Packages at The Children’s Place

American kiddie apparel brand The Children’s Place makes its foray into India, and we suggest you have a baby just so you can buy their merchandise.

Oh how intensely broody the not-yet-parents on our team get when we pass this delightful store in Orion Mall. Designed to look like a nursery with shelves, cabinets and drawers, the space is divided into Big Girls and Big Boys (4-14 years), Baby Girls and Baby Boys (from 6 months-4years), and Baby {for rompers and pajamas, mostly}. At this, their first store in India, you can find their latest collection which is moving into winter mode. So jazzy jackets for the young men, and corduroy coats for the little ladies. You must also doll up your princess in their chic dresses {luckily not in pink only). We spied a few leopard print and black ones, with matching hair bands naturally. Of course, the sales folk didn’t take kindly to being asked if it was available for adults too, but you get the picture right?

While we love the desi look on babies, we appreciate that this store keeps it authentic to America. So expect smart sweaters with jeans to go {yes, they have matching piping}, pinafore dresses, jumpers, denims {with room for diapers too}. Plus, shoes {Mary Janes and Moccasins, anyone?}, socks, accessories such as hats, Alice bands, bags and sunglasses. The pajama section will have you swooning for the soft fabric, delicate prints {think deer, flowers, stars and snowflakes, cars, stripes, clouds and trucks}. Do set aside a budget for the Christmas offerings which range from Santa-inspired dresses, plaid jackets and fleece suits.

Go here for international trends that will be practical yet edgy. While their prices are high-street, you’ll realise that you actually pay for quality here.
