DropKaffe’s selection of flavoured cold coffees uses the novel {atleast to Bangalore} cold brew technique and is value for money as well.

Brewing It Right

Six months back, when DropKaffe used to offer hot cappuccinos and lattes, we were a bit disappointed in their service. Our order once arrived late and we had to cancel last minute. But six months down the line, Dropkaffe has decided to up its ante and has re-launched itself as a cold coffee and milkshakes brand. Not your regular synthetic-tasting instant coffee blitzed in a mixer with milk, but coffee brewed through cold brew technique {coffee brewed in cold or room temperature water for a long period usually a day or more}. This ensures that the resulting brew is flavourful, aromatic and less acidic. Dropkaffe promises to make your coffee as freshly as possible, and packages it in a cute glass bottle to be sent off within an hour of ordering. Their coffee is sourced from the estates of Chikmagalur, and are roasted and ground in-house in limited batches.

Cold and Frothy

We ordered a selection of their classic as well as flavoured coffees and lived to tell a very nice tale {and the order also arrived on time}. Called Coffiato, the cold coffees include flavours such as Vanilla Caramel, Hazelnut and Classic {available in pairs or as a combo of different flavours}. The coffees arrived cold, frothy and really creamy. The hazelnut was our favourite because the flavour wasn’t too in your face, but let the coffee flavours shine through. The flavour of caramel didn’t really come through our Vanilla Caramel version. But The Classic Coffiato is for those who love their coffee as is without any fancy flavours. Our only grouse: we wish there was a without-sugar version, atleast of the Coffiato Classic, because we love drinking our cuppa without sugar. We also found the cold coffees a bit too sweet for our liking.

So, We're Thinking...

At INR 90 for a bottle {you also get to keep the cute glass bottle}, we think it is a rather good deal than any cold coffees we might have ordered at our neighbourhood coffee chain. We are looking forward to their range of milkshakes {Choco Coconut, Choco Mint and Desi Saffron} and the soon-to-be released yoghurt-based smoothies.  Plus, good folks at Dropkaffe, are you listening to our request for sugar-free versions? We hope so.
