We’re hitting the sweet spot with a host of go-to dessert cafes across town. Since we’re simultaneously watching our weight (or so we think), we couldn’t make it to all of the indulgent places in Bangalore. So if you’ve been to a place which offers the best dessert (according to you), let us know. We’ll bravely take on the challenge of trying it out! And yes, we know about Corner House; we’ll shine the spotlight on it another time. But meanwhile, here’s our pick.

Happy Belly Bakes

While birthdays, weddings and baby showers became exotic thanks to Shisham Hinduja’s (and her dreamy elves) quirky cakes, this master baker has won our hearts with her Ferrero Rocher Crunch Cake, Apple Pies and Brownies. Plus, cupcakes (we dream regularly about their Hazelnut Nutella cupcakes), gateaux, tea cakes and hot chocolate (yes, the sinful one with actual melted chocolate) that will resolve even the harshest war. Do try the Honey Nut Tart if you’re not big on chocolate.

Dolci

One of the first ‘fancy’ dessert places in town, we love their New York Cheesecake and Six Layer Cake with the Banoffee and Nutella tart. Brownies, gateaux of all kinds, and pies too, make an appearance. But what we love most about this little gem is that they have mini eclairs and profiteroles which are perfect to a luncheon or high-tea. Or like us, any time of the day!

Desserted

Tucked away near Mount Carmel College, you’ll have to fight off young (and very feisty) college girls to get your share of piping hot cocoa, Lemon Tart or Red Velvet cake – their specials. We may kill for their Brownie Éclair, or Oreo Cream Cake or even their tea cakes, especially the Salted Caramel and Walnut Coffee one. Great for a date (who doesn’t have a wandering eye), Desserted also delivers should you need an SOS birthday cake. Due to COVID-19, they do not have waffles at the moment but all other menu items are available.

Happy Endings

Be it Dark And White Chocolate Marquise, Chocolate Mousse with A Brownie Base, or their decadent Hot Chocolate Brownie Fudge, this is our go-to place when we’re on the outskirts of town (meaning Bellandur). They have a dedicated section for chocolate which needs no explanation, and an ice cream menu covering exotic flavours like Affogato Spoil – a coffee-based one. A Chef’s Indulgence will set you back at least ten workouts, especially their Speciality For Two – Mississippi Mud Cake with Bavarian Ice Cream, Chocolate Mousse and two chocolate bites. Due to COVID-19, they are currently doing cakes and pastries only and and are solely open for takeaways.

Art of Delight

As if Oreo’s couldn’t get better, you get Deep Fried versions here. The Caramel Coffee sundae is top-notch here, with the Deep Fried Snicker on hot on its heels. If it sounds over indulgent to you then a Nutella or Blueberry Cheesecake may do the trick. Or commit a dessert sin and have Fruit Salad With Ice Cream. And did we mention, desserts get pride of place here in beautiful glass jars.

Price: INR 150 upwards.

Patisserie Nitash

Skip the cheesecakes and pie here in favour of more exotic offerings. Don’t get us wrong, they are perfectly delightful but when you sample the Salted Caramel Cake, Peanut Butter and Oreo Symphony, Cold Cheesecake or the Chocolate Apricot. Give their Mars And Twix Cake and Tropical Fruit Gateaux a try.

Price: INR 1,000 upwards for a full cake

Magnolia Bakery

Indiranagar 12th Main is home to Magnolia Bakery, and we can't stop going there for sweet treats! Apart from pretty cupcakes, they also have cheesecakes, ice box cakes, cookies (these are some of the best we've tried), regular cakes, and of course, their legendary banana pudding. Special mention to their lemon bars and blondies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlet has allotted a certain area outside the store for you to enjoy your sweet treats. This has been done to avoid congestion within the store.

Price: INR 200 upwards

Smoor

Smoor is known for their expansive range of chocolate treats. The best part is they have 4 varieties of hot chocolate. About the dessert, The New York baked cheesecake is a breath of fresh air. Other great buys from their include their Rainbow Layer Cake, and Red Velvet. For those who love coffee, definitely try their Opera pastry too. They are not open for dine-in but you can order their products from online food delivery platforms.

Price: INR 75 onwards

Milano Ice Cream

Their Extra Dark Chocolate is as enticing with its hardcore cacao flavours as is their Whiskey Irish Creme with its undertones of the alcohol. The strawberry cheesecake gelato scoop is refreshing in its tart, light sweet flavours. During summer months we have also loved Milano’s fresh berry-based sorbets. And that’s not all. Their ice cream cakes (by the slice), and cute popsicles look equally delectable. They are open for dine-in with tables distanced and even the open space out of the outlet is open to patrons. They do not give tasters.

Glen's Bakehouse

Their bakes are an absolute joy and if you haven't heard about their red velvet cupcake or their cheesecake sundaes, we're here to remedy it. In short, you need to try the brand's dessert sundaes that come with their best cupcakes and cheesecakes crumbled and mixed with ice-cream, whipped cream and other cool toppings. Cheat meal couldn't get more indulgent, we say. They even have good selection of pies and other baked goodies to choose from. A coffee and a good book should go well with the desserts.
