Load Up On Sangria, Steaks, Pasta And All Day Breakfast At This Bistro In Koramangala

Vamsi posted on 08 May

Ten-Second Takeaway

A Mediterranean bistro in the bustling Koramangala, Folklore Bistro should be your go-to place for sangria, sea food and a quiet time out.

What Is It?

Susurprisingly the Folklore Bistro in Koramangala, is as far from Indian folklore as possible. Perhaps they mean Mediterranean folklore, because then they’re spot on. Serving up salads, pizzas, pasta and all-day breakfast, it’s a little pricey though an enjoyable experience. Oh, and meat lovers, they do a good steak too, I hear, although I’m a vegetarian.

What's The Ambience Like?

Set in a blue-and-white bungalow, the bistro is homely, cosy and ideal for a quiet meal or even a date. Music varies from old school pop and country to swing and blues, so really quite eclectic. Decor is minimal and it’s really like an Italian seaside home — shelves with miniature bikes, a hanging clok and guitar on the wall.

Who Is It For?

Those looking to dine out in Koramangala but away from the madding crowd, this one is for you. It’s in the thick of things, but strangely peaceful, and just that bit secluded.

Tell Us About The Experience

I really loved the place for it’s welcoming, warm vibes, but it was a surprise that this place wasn’t Indian is any sense. But the musical instruments on shelves {guitars to tablas} was intriguing enough to stay. The sangrias are decent though could do with more wine, but I can have copious amounts of what they served. Fried calamari and Cajun Grilled Shrimp disappeard as soon as it hit the table, testament to the good quality. We also tried a salad — the watermelon with feta though the cheese was MIA, a soup and a pasta. My favourite was the pasta — cheesy, creamy and rich. The chicken steak for my dining companion was apparently ‘super amazing’. It came with creamy mash, veggies and her choice of sauce was creamy mushroom, topped with pepper for that zing.

End with the light but delicious Chocolate Cheese Cake — not too sweet and with that perfect salty biscuit base.

Anything Else?

They have a brunch on weekends starting at INR 425 and there are fixed menus for vegetarians, chicken eaters, meat lovers and fishy folk, all separately priced. And all-day breakfasts that includes everything from bacon-egg-onion pies and tacos to pancakes and plated brekkies.

#LBBTip

They have valet parking so don’t worry about finding space.
