Ten-second takeaway

Go hip and hop this weekend with one of the most exciting dance events of the year, Freeze 2015.

Stepping up

For all you hip-hop enthusiasts, Freeze is back for its 7th edition. With workshops, the much-awaited jam and after-party celebrations, this is one event you definitely shouldn’t miss. An initiative started by Naser Al Azzeh of Black Ice Crew {a dance group started in 2008 to represent the hip hop and breakdance scene in the city}, Freeze has come to be known as an event that brings together people who love hip hop, dance and music.

Show your moves

While you’re there, look out for German breakdance legend, Niels “Storm” Robitzky of Battle Squad Galactica, who will be judging the dance battle. Another international artiste to expect at Freeze 2015 would be Julius Mitchell, one of Sri Lanka’s best beatboxers. If you’ve been thinking of brushing up your skills, there are workshops lined up for breaking, popping and locking, all by Storm. The hi-energy, weekend-long battle of talents includes categories ranging from breaking and popping to all-styles. The fun doesn’t end there, though. After watching all that crazy dancing for two days, if you’re itching to hit the dance floor yourself, head to the after-party and groove to some hip-hop and RnB. Now, that’s what we call a perfect weekend.
