What Makes It Awesome

Mrs Rosanna had prepared an awesome South Indian meal for us when we had just arrived - sambar, rasam, veggies, papad, curd and white rice. Such an unforgettable meal as we had undereaten our breakfast anticipating a bad time with the 36 hairpin bends. Every meal we had in the Milton Abbott Estate was really special. We woke up to a great Sri Lankan breakfast of string hoppers, stew and a coconut chutney powder with a cup of Ooty tea. Also, we had our lunch on the lawn. They went out of the way to arrange a little picnic basket of lemon rice, veggies and some munchies. It was the perfect weather for a picnic lunch! Special mention for the hot herbal soup - ask for it, if you visit this place and then you can thank us later.

Here, Mrs Rosanna cooks and Mr Lionel takes care of everything else; right from serving our dinner to fixing the firewoods for the fireplace. They went out of the way to make things we like to eat and giving us the required space. Plus, they have two cute cats, in addition, to two adorable dogs. He took us around and showed his herb garden from where the previous night’s soup’s ingredients came from. Soup-er no?

The Interiors are the charm of this 150-year-old home with a fireplace that actually works is unparalleled. Milton Abbott Estate decorated beautifully with elegant drapes and cushions. It’s soothing and unique. Our room had a blue theme to it. Right from the carpets to the curtains to the bed runners, everything complied with the theme.

What's My Pro Tip?

Make sure to pick the room where four people can sleep as it's spacious and really beautiful.

Anything Else?

Also, the Sri Lankan food they serve here is simply to die for.
