What Makes It Awesome

Happy Belly Bakes have been in business for about 10 years now and they are celebrating their 10th year with a revamped menu. Well, apparently they do make small tweaks every month and keep introducing new items to the menu all the time. So there is always something new to try.

This time though I tried a few of their vegetarian classics, with a few brews & bowls from their new menu. The warm afternoon called for a nice cold drink & I chose the Vietnamese Cold Brew, that was refreshing on the palate & just right for the weather, with the caffeine kick.

I had mini bite sizes Mushroom Quiche, and Corn And Spinach Toastie. The quiche was perfectly baked, with the right but the mild hint of mushrooms. The Delicious Toastie Bites Were So Creamilicious that I had to ask the secret. I was told, the Owner / Menu Curator / Baker, The Toasties Were first lined up with spinach & corn, then smothered with a nice slab of bechamel, then a layer of cheese & baked, happiness overload, absolutely Loved this.

After a quick bite at the raw energy salad, I moved on to the delicious mains. The salad as such was fresh and crunchy, with Beetroot being the hero while the toasted pumpkin seeds added to a nice crunch. I personally would face preferred a little more dressing to compliment this wonderfully fresh salad.

The Spinach Lasagne was a beautiful dish, with an extra bit of smokiness that just elevated the dish to a beautiful high. Loved every bite of this delicious goodness, and being a little light on your tummy. The Mushroom Crepe’s was an amazing dish, beautifully made delightfulness. The Mexican Bowl was decent, could have done a bit well with some guacamole, and maybe more seasoning.

So we all know that Happy Belly Bakes can do Desserts really well, and they lived up to this reputation. Sampled some delicious Apple Pies, Triple Ganache Torte, Namma Chocolate, Cheesecake, & Lemon Pie,

My absolute favourite was Namma Chocolate, beautiful silky smooth pure chocolate goodness, I would recommend this as the best here. The Cheesecake & Apple Pie was my second most favourite, them comes the triple Ganache Torte. The Lemon Pie was well made but I am never really a fan of anything lemon, so it was my least favourite.

Overall this is a great experience with amazing food on offer and not just desserts. I was angry at myself that I haven’t realised this beautiful cafe off MG Road for so long. Highly recommended place, head there right away.
