Chilli Chocolate To Black Forest: We Have The Scoop On This Authentic, Italian Gelato Parlour

Aakanksha posted on 30 May

Ten-Second Takeaway

Conveniently set on Museum Road, in the same compound as The Only Place, this new dessert place scoops out all sorts of gelato, milkshakes and pastries too.

Chow Down

Chilli Chocolate, Tiramisu and Black Forest Gelato.

Sip On

Greedy Misbegotten milkshake

Winning For…

Fluffy, natural and very Italian gelato in unusual flavours.

Lowdown On The Ambience

The place is all-out white, with sofas on one side, and cutesy picnic tables and chairs on the other. Set in the little cottage space outside The Only Place on Museum Road, it’s great for a quick date or post dinner indulgence. Expect a revamp soon though.

Au Naturel

Priding themselves in being 100 per cent natural and authentic, GustoVita comes straight from Italy. In fact, it gets our vote for being most delicious {and long may that last}. We went to this place post a football game which Bengaluru FC won; naturally we needed to celebrate without loading up on too many calories. So out came a scoop of Chilli Chocolate, Tiramisu, Black Forest, Chai Tea, Vanilla and Strawberry, onto caramelised cones {yes, yes, old-school and yummy!}. The ingredients are imported from Italy, and the charming Italian manager tells us that there’s absolutely no artificial flavouring or colour.

Spice It Up

Chai Tea and Strawberry were both silky smooth, but when compared to the hit of spice from the Chilli Chocolate – dark chocolate with bits of chilli thrown in. Black Forest is very artisanal and it felt like we were biting {licking?} into the traditional cake as the original taste was retained. Win! But the clear winner was the Tiramisu – silky, thick and with a burst of coffee that could well have been a shot of espresso.

Solid Stuff

If the gelato doesn’t fill you up, or like us, you’re just gluttonous give their rich milkshakes a shot. The Greedy Misbegotten – heavy cream, sour cherry, chocolate dust, is our pick. But the Mhoney Me with vanilla biscuit, gelato, crumble biscuit and honey, comes a close second. We’re also eyeing the full cakes {that start at just INR 650 for the full ones}. Red Velvet and dark chocolate is what we saw, and are keen on sampling.

Prices: INR 80 upwards per scoop; milkshakes start at INR 120; pastries start at INR 650 upwards
