Getting to or from the airport is a nightmare. There are times when you wish there was a flight service {there’s a helitaxi service in plans, folks} from the airport to wherever you are. Well, according to this Bangalore Mirror report, it seems that the Ministry of Civil Aviation is considering using the now-defunct HAL Airport to accept diverted flights from the Kempegowda International Airport {KIA} during the winter season or whenever flights are unable to land at the airport in Devanahalli {or as we like to call it, Planet Devanahalli}. The idea is to use the airport as a backup for diversions only and not as an optional airport. Not that we are complaining, but we are hoping if and when the airport becomes operational, all our flights are diverted to HAL.

In recent months, the Airport Authority India (AAI) officials had inspected the terminal building for operationalisation of the airport’s civil enclave and it looks like most of the systems are in place and that they can operate the airport in about 15-20 days if a nod is given.
