The boy wizard is returning and he’s returning in a smooth, silky and scripted book on July 31. Say hello to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child I & II.
We cannot tell you how excited we are that there is, after all, going to be an eighth book, to the gripping saga that ended, so to speak, with all things hunky dory. Fast-forward to 19 years later (the last chapter of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows), and we have ourselves new adventures with the now-grown Harry, Ron and his wife Hermoine (you knew they got married right?). While JK Rowling didn’t really write it as a book, but rather as a script for the new stage play, we couldn’t be bothered about semantics when our childhood has just been given a new lease of life.
The play, set to premiere officially on July 30, it will be followed up by the release of the print and digital editions the next day – July 31, and Harry’s birthday if you remember correctly. First, expect the Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book which will then be replaced by a Definitive Collector’s Edition. The story picks up exactly where we left off in The Deathly Hallows, at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, at King’s Cross Station, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Going all out to celebrate the release of the book, and the boy wizard’s birthday, The Lightroom Bookstore is hosting a party. So all you Potter fans, dust off the robes, bring out the wands and make you way on your brooms to this event. There’s Hogwarts-style feasting, in addition to quizzes that will separate the muggles from the real witches and wizards. You can even have you portrait drawn in the cupboard under the stairs. And make sure you’re properly dressed up as there’s prizes to be won for best costume too! Oh! And don’t forget to pre-order your copy of the book with them to be collected at the party.
