Horn Ok Please: A New Dhaba-Style Restaurant in Town

The information in this post might be outdated

Ten-second takeaway

The ooru gets an all-new restaurant and bar offering highway food-inspired drinks and grub in a dhaba-style setting.

Dhaba fare

While they aren't actually promoting any honking (we hope!), the just-launched Horn Ok Please definitely seems to be serving some interesting dishes along with drinks. And, true to its name, everything from the food to the decor follows the typical highway dhaba style. Think walls that resemble corrugated aluminium sheets, vibrant colours, quirky posters of Bollywood movies and tiffin-carrier lights. Intrigued, much? So are we. But, wait till you hear the rest.

Pun intended

Giving a twist and whacky names to desi dishes , their menu lists out soups, salads, starters, parathas and curries for you to choose from. Take your pick of starters like Palak Dhiklaa Ja (samosas with spiced spinach and cottage cheese), Veg Biritos (wanton rolls with a filling of biryani) or mini pooris that come with a stuffing of chicken, prawns or minced lamb. For main course, they offer Paratha Disks topped with paneer or chicken chunks, or served with fish tossed in Chettinadu masala. Served with a helping of rice or Indian bread, their gravies might catch your attention for their quirky names - Channa Channa De De, Sarso Ka Suhaag Raat and Buttar Chikkan (no points for guessing what they are, of course). When it comes to tipple, choose from desi options like Chocolate Sharbat (rum, chocolate and condensed milk) and Amchoor (vodka with aam panna and chilli).
