Look out for features from Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Rupert Everett in this technophobic anthology, sure to leave you feeling unsettled and more than a little disturbed. And maybe even unhinged for a bit. The mix of sci-fi, satire, and horror makes for addictive television and ranks among the top TV shows we’ve come across on Netflix. Yup, all five seasons of it.

More quirky than it is scary, this zombie series is like Night Of The Living Dead meets Sherlock Holmes… kind of. Clever, fast-paced, and fun, you’ll finish this series faster than you can start it.

American Horror Story

With eight wildly successful seasons (and a stellar ensemble cast including the likes of Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, and Leslie Jordan among others!), the anthology series American Horror Story should be your Halloween month binge if you ask us. Making you feel everything from slightly creeped out, to hair-on-the-neck-standing scared. Each season (named things like Murder House, Asylum, Freakshow, Cult, and Apocalypse among others) is a mini-series by itself and incorporates everything from psychological horror, mythology, and urban legends. Some of the stories are loosely based on true events too! Plus, who doesn’t want to watch Lady Gaga in her element and be freaked out but in the best way?

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

Based on a comic book by the same name, there’s post-apocalyptic horror, zombies, (live human conflict thanks to inherently human horrors), and...a pathogen that mutates! The series focuses on how different communities survive and struggle in a world with zombies. So it’s the living versus the undead, in a world where everyone has the potential to become the latter. It hits close to home when faulty human behaviour only messes up their community’s chance at survival. Why is it scary? Because you always know that getting bitten is right around the corner and it’s a matter of when not if.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor

We were still marvelling at (or should we say recovering from the effects of) Hill House when Netflix decided to hit us with its follow-up, The Haunting Of Bly Manor bang at the start of the spooky month. But hey, we ain't complaining, it's the perfect build-up to Halloween! By now we know that Mike Flanagan's 'Haunting Of' series leads us to haunted houses that psychologically unnerve not only its residents but the audience too -- only this time at Bly Manor more ghosts await us! The two stories are not connected but we do spot overlapping characters in Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, and our personal favourite, Kate Siegel of the Hush fame.

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Four seasons or 36 episodes, and man what an adventure it has been living the half-witch and half-human life vicariously through Sabrina! Aside from being fun (it's based on Archie's comic book series of the same name) coming-of-age fictional series, it's dark, it's impactful horror and it's sprinkled with a good measure of teenage witchcraft. Sabrina is almost superwoman-esque fighting the evil forces that threaten her family while dealing with enough plot twists and college assignments (yes she leads the most and exciting and exhausting dual life).

The Haunting Of Hill House

Want to feel the Halloween spirit that gives you goosebumps and chills? Then we strongly recommend you curl up and watch The Haunting Of Hill House. Based on the book, The Haunting Of Hill House on Netflix serves as the first entry in The Haunting anthology series. With a series of events that happen in the past and present, The Haunting Of Hill House shows how a family survives a horrifying summer at Hill House and the long-term trauma from the events that follow. The series with 10 episodes is sure to leave you gagging, scared, and sometimes scare you to death. You can expect a lot of jumpscares, unexpected meetings with the ghost, and feeling all creeped out. But, hey! We aren’t complaining. If you are someone who loves horror and enjoys jump scares, then this series is sure to put you in the Halloween mood.

Ash Vs Evil Dead

Ash Vs Evil Dead

When horror is combined with comedy, magic happens and that’s exactly what Ash Vs Evil Dead brings to life. If you are not a big fan of horror movies but still want to enjoy the Halloween spirit, then our pick to binge-watch is Ash Vs Evil Dead. Being a part of the adventures of the Evil Dead horror movie franchise, this series is all about OTT violence and gore. The series is about how the protagonist - Ashley "Ash" Williams, a 57-year-old guy, tries to charm a bar pickup by reciting "poetry," which is, naturally, the Necronomicon Ex Mortis and goes terribly wrong. Now Ashely with his co-workers needs to hit the road and fight zombies to save the world. It is funny, gripping and all that you need to spend Halloween night curled up in your bed (maybe with something more comforting to save you from the chills).

Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass

This limited series by Mike Flanagan is a thrilling and suspenseful tale that keeps you on your edge with how quickly the narrative shifts from what seems like a drama to a full-blown horror fest. Throw in vampires, angels, dead cats with their throats ripped, blood, and a stellar cast with daunting and meta dialogues, at the end of the series, you are left wondering if there's more to this series or not. Watch out for the brilliant performances by Samantha Sloyan has Bev Keane, Hamish Linklater as Father Paul Hill, and Zach Gilford as one of the main antagonists Riley Flynn.

Hellbound

Hellbound, one of our favourite South Korean dark fantasy horror series in 2021, features supernatural and otherwordly powers. The plot essentially revolves around death prophecies being delivered by an otherwordly face and three large supernatural monsters who come and incinerate the person whose death has been foretold. It also involves two organisations.
