Live At And Lord Over The House Of Gryffindor At Yercaud

Inspired by the Harry Potter series, the House of Gryffindor in Yercaud is cosy, comfortable and won’t burn a hole in your pocket either.

Who didn’t marvel alongside the first years in Harry Potter when the camera panned onto the marvellous Hogwarts Building? Not us! So in pursuit of a similar building, we chanced upon House of Gryffindor in Yercaud. Nowhere near the actual Christ Church College from Oxford, this one just uses a similar style of architecture and we’re very amused. Accommodating up to 10 guests {or 12 but it’s a bit of a squeeze}, this cottage has three bedrooms, perfect for a group to make merry {or magic!}. So witches and wizards, book away.

Built as split levels, the rooms are conveniently close but give you privacy too. The second floor sees two of the bedroom plus a common area, while the bottom room is slightly cut off from the rest. In fact, you can even book out that one individually as it is self-sufficient with a kitchenette to go. And the owners are happy to let you use the kitchen and fridge {at an added INR 500 cost} to whip up your own culinary storm. Not interested? The caretaker in on hand to help.

Since the cottage is part of an enclave on the fringes on the town, the nearby forested area make for a great incentive to get out of the rooms. The lake, only two kilometres away, of course is a hotspot, and you’ll wander there even if we didn’t point it out! Want to head off on a serious trek? They’ll organise a guided one, in addition to sightseeing trips through the town too.

They offer pick up and drop from the nearby Salem, which is also the closest hub for trains and buses.
