What's Happening

Sahapedia, the online encyclopedia of Indian arts and culture is hosting its second edition of the India Heritage Walk Festival (IHWF) in association with UNESCO. The aim of the month-long, multi-city festival is to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our country, and make it accessible to everyone. This time, the heritage walk will take you through the historical side of Malleshwaram, one of Bangalore’s oldest modern suburbs.

Spend your Sunday morning strolling through Malleshwaram industrial sector, going all the way back to the Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Lamp factories from the 20th century. For a truly authentic experience, enjoy our version of "street food"  local delicacies as you check out 8th Cross Shopping Street and go all out with the shopping. You’ll also get to visit famous temples and check out the fruit and vegetable markets of Malleshwaram.

If you're looking to learn a new skill, the IHWF is conducting a Devanagari calligraphy workshop at 10 AM, Atta Galatta on Sunday. Learn how to use space, balance and harmony to create lovely black and white forms so characteristic of the Devanagari script. There will also be a brief overview of the Jain Devanagari style from manuscripts and current practices of manuscript writing.
