If you haven’t been to the Jaipur Literature Fest before, you must go this year round. Slated to have about 300 speakers (well, 299 on our last count) in addition to a music festival which will include world music, ghazals, funk, rock or some serious Blues, there’s no reason to miss it.

Andrew Marr, best known for his political show on the BBC will be there too. As will Rom Whitaker, Rupert Everett, British writer Rhiannon Jenkins Tsang, Yann Martel (yes, the one and only!), William Dalrymple, Hari Kunzru, Jeffery Archer and Omar Robert Hamilton who is the co-founder of the Palestine Festival of Literature! Of course, Shashi Tharoor, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Usha Uthup, Gulzar, Barkha Dutt, Anita Nair, Kapil Sibal and Mithali Raj (captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team), among others as the list, literally goes on and on and on! So, you see why you should be there!

If that wasn’t enough, the music line up includes the Sufi and soulful Nooran Sisters, Carnatic and world music vocalist Mahesh Vinayakram in collaboration with Dub FX (Benjamin Stanford), Jasbir Jassi who will be fusing Punjabi folk music with Rajasthani folk, Kutle Khan. Plus, folk-rock legends Indian Ocean, violin maestro L Subramaniam, and blues band, all the way from Shillong, Soulmate, and techno masters Midival Punditz.

Those who simply cannot do without shopping, the festival bazaar will stock up with quirky stationery, gifts, edgy apparel, traditional weaves, jewellery, shoes and plenty of home decor that'll make your whole house seem new!
