French salon Jean-Claude Biguine made a home in India eight years ago and has been the go-to for beautiful hair colours and curated cuts. We decided to go to their Lavelle Road salon to for a quick cut and blow dry, and get the 411 on the place.

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful

The salon is bright and airy and we were immediately made to feel welcome. I’m usually apprehensive about getting anything done in a salon, but the people at Jean-Claude Biguine made me feel comfortable and relaxed with their no-fuss approach. I met Tanya, the Style Director, who was in town from Mumbai to train the team for the Spring-Summer styles. She showed me her lookbook of the season’s styles and I was a fan! Since I didn’t go in with a hairstyle in mind, this was helpful. I slipped into a kimono {fancy} to get down to business.

Chop And Lock

First up, a hair wash. Probably one of the most universally hated things about getting your hair washed at a salon is the cold touch of porcelain on your neck. Thankfully my neck was protected from this, and the wash itself was so comfortable I nearly fell asleep. I was quickly transferred to a chair and the style director started my cut with little preamble. I requested to keep some of the length so she trimmed the ends and cut it a little shorter in the front and paid attention to layers {for movement and volume, I was told}. Next up was tips on how to style my hair which is naturally wavy, so I could make the most of the cut. As she began to blow dry I started to get super excited at how it was turning out. I left Jean-Claude Biguine happy, and with a handful of tips about the products I should use to keep my mane looking lush. Hair fears conquered!

The Mane Point

The prices aren’t too steep, though it nearly doubles if you go for a more senior stylist {go ahead, your hair will thank you}. I didn’t try their colour but by the looks of two excited clients who were getting blond streaks in their curly bobs, they were happy campers. So I’d definitely give it a try.
