Grover Zampa Vineyards ain’t technically located in Bangalore. Well, my love for connoisseurs the wine drinking takes me to such places. A pre-booking is advisable here, although I made it on the spot. I planned my trip to Grover Zampa Vineyards along with Nandi Hills. After the early morning quest, and some quick breakfast I headed to Grover Zampa Vineyards ( 30 minutes ride from Nandi Hills). The wine tasting and tour start from 10:30 a.m. The ticket is approx 1200 INR, which includes wine tasting & touring. You can also opt for 2000 INR ticket which includes an additional lunch buffet.
Before this winery, I have had an experience at Sula Vineyards, Nashik. The session here starts with the history of Grover Zampa and how it came into existence. In the wine tasting session, they serve you with six different types of wine (Red & White). Our batch was headed by Ms Karishma, she gave us an insight into the different notes of wine’s taste, the art of drinking wine, followed by the winemaking tour from crushing the grapes to final packaging. Recently, they are experimenting with the ageing of wine in terracotta pots instead of a wooden barrel, would love to try this final product. The fun fact about the tour is you get to do barefoot grapes stomping.
They also have their wine shop, few of the wine shop, few of the wines sold here aren’t available in the market. I bought a dessert wine from here and absolutely loved it. I will have to revisit this place just for that dessert wine sooner. This is a perfect one day getaway from Bangalore!
