MG Road to Go Vehicle-free on February 21

The information in this post might be outdated

While we first thought that Valentine's Day would be the Open Street on MG Road, the official date is now February 21, but we're still as excited. It’s an all-day walkers green on MG Road, as the street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9am-9pm. As part of the Open Street concept, which kicked off in HSR Layout in September (read about it here), it’s all about using public transport. This time too a bunch of city-based organisations, namely BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation), the DULT (Directorate of Urban Land Transport), and the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike), are making this happen.

Apparently, there will be street performances, artistes, and musicians. So there’s plenty to look forward. There’ll also be stalls for nibbles, drinks and shopping, meaning that it’s a full-fledged but old-school carnival on the streets. So forget those fancy meals and expensive outings next weekend and just hit the boulevard. Also, ditch the cars, but bring the bicycles as there is parking for those kinds of bikes on MG Road.

Where: Anil Kumble Circle to Brigade Road

When: February 21, 9am-9pm
