Ten-Second Takeaway

If you want to stay in the heart of Goa {read Anjuna}, but be far from the “madding crowd”, then Michele’s Garden Cafe and B&B could be your respite. Plus, did we mention the French crepes and budget but gorgeous stay?

If you are looking for budget yet comfortable stay, then you need to make your way to Michele’s in Anjuna. The Bread and Breakfast offers three rooms, each with a different view and design. The Orange Room is set on the first floor and opens out to a private balcony among thick foliage while the  charming Blue Room overlooks the village of Anjuna and comes with French windows and a private balcony too.

And guess what? Michele’s also has a Tree house room, with a spiral staircase going up to the room directly from the garden cafe below. Perfect for coupling, we say. The Garden View room is located on the ground floor and will open out straight to the cafe area. But it’s well hidden from view under a thick foliage of ink bougainvillea. You can order in your complimentary breakfast in your room too, each room comes with a private shower, and WiFi {who needs it though}.

French-Style Brekkie

Michele’s cafe, fittingly called La Vie En Rose, is set in a garden with pretty tiled tables, garden furniture and lots of greenery. Though they are only open for breakfast {also open to non guests}, what a brekkie it is. Think crepes slathered with gooey chocolate sauce or honey, and loaded with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, and the works, waffles and pancakes piled high, thick cut French Toast and breakfast cakes. There’s also savoury crepes with ham and Béchamel and lots of cheese, eggs done to your liking and freshly brewed coffee {always served in a French press} along with the cappuccinos and lattes. While you tuck into breakfast here and engage in friendly banter with Michele who is a darling host {don’t miss her rocking bright pink lipstick and flowers in her hair}, don’t forget to say hi to Michele’s rather distinguished looking Russian blue cat Bijoux.

When In Goa…

Walk down for a five minutes and you will find yourself at Anjuna’s German Bakery, and a ten minutes of solid walking on paths between fields of green will bring you to the happening area of Little Vagator. Thalassa, Antares by Masterchef winner Sarah Todd and the absolutely brilliant Goan restaurant Blue Bird are all located here. You can explore the by lanes of Anjuna village and or just get a taxi to the nearest beach. Anjuna is too crowded, head to Vagator instead.
