Mota Royal Arcade has been on Brigade Road for probably longer than Team LBB has been alive — anyone from Bangalore can tell you where it is, but not everyone can tell you what’s inside it. Neighbouring the iconic Rex Theatre, it’s a wonder we haven’t yet covered this mini-mall despite numerous signs advertising massive discounts and wholesale prices. With this in mind, we set out on a mission to discover what cool finds awaited us, and we came out feeling more than a little surprised. Branded sneakers, boots, clothes and bags at the most gobsmacking prices are just the tip of the iceberg here!

Fashion Star

Display cases stacked with more shoes than you could ever wear, and racks groaning with bodycon dresses, distressed denims, cold shoulder tops, and so much more —  once you browse and get past the cheap synthetic stuff, you’ll find a treasure trove here. We found discounted men’s and women’s Vans, Yeezy’s and Doc Martens {not sure about the authenticity but they were as close to the real deal}. We fell in love with a pair of South Park canvas sneakers for just INR 1,299. They also stock heavily discounted clothes from Forever 21, Abercrombie & Fitch and Levi’s, and even carry a good range of sizes. Check out their discount racks for an additional 20 percent off!

Shoe Shop

Winter is coming, and it’s time to gear up. We were pleasantly surprised by this store — their selection of boots {and sandals and loafers, too!} for men and women were both stylish and reasonably priced, with additional discount rates on certain pairs. The women’s store carries a great selection of Caterpillar and Timberland boots from INR 1,100, and you can find some smart Clark’s for INR 1,199 in the men’s store. While we can’t vouch for their authenticity, as long as you’re not planning on wearing them up Mt. Everest, there shouldn’t be an issue with a hike to Nandi Hills.

Bag Shop

Yeah, the stores have really creative names, we know. Owned by the same Shoe Shop guys, this awesome little store carries some very must-buy faux-leather backpacks in shades like cobalt blue and tan, with studs and embellishments. Cute, compact and trendy, these are perfect for a music festival, a day trip or even to work. Their main collection of purses isn’t too notable, but we loved their selection of cross body bags, perfect for a night out! Prices start from INR 899, and you can find some great pieces at a real steal.

Viva Garments

Taking up two whole floors, there’s a plethora of discounted fashion brands to choose from: Vero Moda, Allen Solly, and Aviraté are just a few. While you’ll need to browse diligently through the women’s stuff to find a steal, the store carries a wide range of sizes which is a plus! The men’s section was much more impressive — we loved their collection of soft cotton graphic tees {Spiderman and Star Wars for all you fanboys} starting at INR 299, and shorts and jackets from brands like Fila and Geox starting at INR 500. Their sneaker selection was heavily discounted — the Nike and Adidas shoes seemed original but a bit worn. Definitely worth a look!

This arcade is also well-known for its currency exchange stores, offering some of the city’s top rates, so whether you’re going out of the country or have just arrived, you know where to go!
