Ten-second takeaway

A bazaar with a heart and conscience. Shopping suddenly seems so legit.

Market day

There's a charity bazaar brewing in town, and who are we to resist the temptation of shopping for a cause? Muse Creation, a creative association formed by Japanese expats in the city, is having its annual charity bazaar this weekend. You'll find apparel, accessories, handicrafts and organic products, all made by socially conscious businesses, NGOs in the city and by Muse's crafts-inclined volunteers. The members of Muse Creation regularly visit NGOs in the city and carry out creative activities to contribute to these causes. The Muse Charity Bazaar is their big annual event, and they will be donating the proceeds to the underprivileged.

Brand of brothers

Some of the labels and socially conscious companies you'll see at the bazaar include Templetree, a paper products boutique, Jacaranda, a home and garden brand, and Kahawa Fresh, selling coffee beans. You'll get the chance to snap up second-hand clothes and accessories in good condition at a pop-up shop set up by The Pre-Loved Co, a community that believes in recycling and reusing. There will also be products sold by NGOs such as One Billion Literates, Shepherd Crafts Kashmir and Samarthanam Trust. The artsy members of Muse themselves are making all kinds of craft products for you to buy, and will also set up a cafe in the garden outside the venue. As if that's not enough, the Muse Choir will perform exclusive salon concerts at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, and we can only imagine how lovely that will be.
