Koramangala Peeps, Drink Up: Here Are The Five New Bars That Opened In Your Hood

The information in this post might be outdated

We have come to accept the fact that Koramangala is a gift that keeps giving. The gift in this context is new bars for you to check in with your squad. Some are up and running already, while others are either putting their final touches on their space or getting their menu sorted. For now, this guide is all you need to follow. Until Koramangala opens another batch of resto-bars, that is! Go on, make that Let’s Drink WhatsApp group.

My Ship

Koramangala’s new bar is all about ships. Lifebuoys, ship’s wheel light fixtures, a bar counter designed like a boat’s hull, and two boats installed as the props make up the decor. Pick from an alfresco seating and closed seating, but pick a spot near the TV screens as they’re big on sports screenings. The food also complements the energetic vibe this place has — nachos, sausages, deep-fried pork, tempura prawns, chilli pork, and chicken wings. The more substantial bites include burgers, pizzas, steak, and mains such as biryani, and Thai curry and rice. Drinks are your regular poison with in-house specials such as coffee and tea-based cocktails. Draught beer is available too.

The Toddy House

Fans of Kerala toddy shop cuisine you can feast on anything from Beef Dry Fry to Quail Eggs or Quail Fry. The whole menu is an all-out meaty and seafood affair with rabbit meat, pork belly chops, crab ghee roast, and fish fry all taking the top spot. Vegetarians, you can munch on tapioca chips served with apple cider spritz, Parupu Vadai, and Channa Jor Garam Nachos. For drinks, you could go with the house classics or opt for Devazhkulam Long Strong Iced Tea, the restobar’s take on the LIIT, Allepy Appletini or Quilon Mai Thai.

Brooks And Bonds Brewery

It’s another brewery to add to Bangalore’s every growing list of micro-breweries. But then like every other micro-brewery that’s opening, Brooks and Bonds Brewery is yet to get their brewing license. A little birdie told us that they intend to start brewing by the end of February. Rustic vibes meet industrial set up is the decor theme with three floors of seating at this microbrewery. The terrace seating easily is our favourite spot — planters, community seating, and open-air ambience. There’s nothing to rave about the food menu, but it does have the usual favourites — Chicken Wings, Chicken 65, Fish Fingers, Beer Battered Onion Rings, Nachos, and Fries. Enough to keep you munching during your night-out with the squad. Stick to classic cocktails such as Cosmo, Sex on the Beach, and Old Fashion here. Or try the dessert cocktails such as the Irish Coffee which has whiskey, brown sugar, and coffee.

The Reservoire

This swanky resto-bar is three floors of fun with the rooftop easily stealing the spotlight. The open-air bit of the rooftop feature birdcage booth seating, colourful chairs, and fairy lights. Industrial set up, plush lounge chairs, and indoor plants make up the rest two floors. The menu is quite extensive with appetisers dominating. Expect bar bites such as nachos and wings making the cut along with an array of Continental, Chinese, and tandoor hits such as shrimp cocktail, Schezwan chicken, and Chicken Tikka. Take Me Home, Krak Jacker, and Old Man’s Bear form the part of their signature cocktails — all of them with drama and smoke.

Biergarten

You don’t need to make that trek to Whitefield anymore for traditional German-style brews made with imported ingredients from Germany. Opening soon {the dates are yet to be finalised}, we hear the Koramangala outlet will be a microbrewery as well, so hurrah for that. We are just hoping that the community-style seating, The Pulled Pork Burger, Bacon Wrapped Prawns, Spicy Lamb Bao, and their array of pizza make their way to the Koramangala spot too.
