From Posters To Terrariums: Here's Our Round-Up Of The Best New Spots For Shopping

Sreepathy posted on 21 December

It’s that time of the year when all your last minute shopping needs to be sorted out. Whether you are looking at being the Secret Santa of the Year, just redoing your home, or you just want to shop {we know that feeling}, we have found six new spots for you to get down to business. And by business, we mean shopping. Stock up on everything from posters to lamps and furniture to silk sarees. Credit cards ready?

Quirk Station

Located on 12th Main Indiranagar and sharing space with The Entertainment Store {TES} is the Quirk Station. It’s a paradise for all those of you who like giving gifts with that hint of quirk. You will find Apaulogy’s posters on Bangalore in the 70s to cute sock toys made by the sock brand Footsy. You are also going to find a lot of tees from the Wear Your Opinion {WYO} as well as a whole collection of The Ink Bucket’s stationery products such as bookmarks, journals and art prints. You could spend quite some time thinking which bookmarks to pick up though. We did and here’s what we think.

Launched around six months ago, Unearth is a minimalistic yet gorgeous store that’s looking to add a touch of green to your space. They specialise in home decor pieces that feature terrariums and other plant life. How cool is that? You are going to see handmade terracotta jars and pots that can make a perfect workspace gift for your BFF at work or could even find space in your bedroom. They also have these pretty wooden and steel planters that can sit pretty in a cosy nook at your home or office. We are in love with the minimalistic Ikea-like aesthetic. And you can read all about that here.

Yes, yes, the very same iconic Kanjivaram sari brand founded by Ahalya S from Chennai. Since it’s the wedding season and you need to shop, there’s no way you can say no to these silk beauties. Although shopping for these can well be considered an investment. Apart from the gorgeous pure Kanjivarams that range from the softer Mandanila silks to the elegant Valli Muhurtham collection that will be perfect for a bride {think deep red and rich purples}, there is so much on offer. Find out about all that here.

Nykaa’s philosophy behind the store inventory is that whatever is trending on their website will make it onto the shelves in their stores. And that’s enough reason to blow up all your saving on everything from perfumes, eau de toilettes, and sprays from brands such as Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Yves St Laurent, Clinique, and more. You will see individual sections dedicated to nail paints, makeup, bath and body, men’s products, and even beauty accessories such as makeup brushes and hair straighteners. Phew! It’s a long list. You can read about all that here.

When it comes to clothes, women always get all the attention. But luckily for the finicky men, there’s Kaapus. It’s for those men who like it inch-perfect, or you’re just a bit underwhelmed by off-the-rack, slightly ill-fitting clothes, fear not! We found a cure. It’s called Kaapus. Essentially an online shopping brand which tailors clothes for men, they will make you a customised fit to suit your body type. They also have a physical shop {they call it the Guide Shop} on Lavelle Road where you can go get yourself measured, and dressed. What’s great about these folks is that they focus on the everyday merch too —  from linen shirts and pop-over flannels to cuff chinos and stretch shorts. Find out more about it here.
