A bright spot on Kammanahalli’s food scene, OKI is perfect for those of you who love Asian food that’s loaded with exciting flavours.

OKI Doki

Located on a quiet street just off the Kammanahalli Main Road, OKI has quietly gone about winning over customers in the months since it has opened. Their menu pays ode to Asian flavours, especially from East and South East Asia. What we love is that they’ve added little twists and paired unusual ingredients to add new dimensions to traditional recipes. They have a smattering of European dishes that are worth sampling too.

From their Small Eats menu, we instantly loved the Zucchini, Corn And Feta Fritters. Fashioned like cutlets, these were just about crispy on the outside and gooey and creamy as you pulled them apart. The roasted, garlic, chipotle mayo that accompanied the fritters definitely perked up the dish. Our vote also goes to the Char Grilled Chicken – juicy bits of grilled meat that were slathered generously with a dark sauce that included chilli and basil.

Asia In A Box

For the mains, you can either pick from the Meal In Itself offerings {a portion that’s just right for one person} or the Hearty Choice options that’s a little more generous. Here, we loved the subtle flavours of the Cambodian Banana Leaf Wrap Grilled Fish. The generous chunk of still juicy fish was coated in a light but creamy sauce. The Pad Krapow sure did transport us to the streets of Bangkok and had just the right hit of chilli. Our only disappointment was the Wonton Chicken Ravioli, though hearty and generously done up in mushrooms, tomatoes, and rosemary butter – the dish was heavily salted.

Every evening, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm, the restaurant opens for tea time and serves Vietnam’s favourite snack –  Banh Mi Sandwiches. You may want to try that out!
