Host a culinary event or become a guest at one while meeting new people and having fun, all with Platehopper, an online food community.

Meet and eat

Whether you’re someone who enjoys cooking or just tucking into good food, Platehopper’s online community is worth bookmarking. Started by Arjun Ramamurthy {city-based art director and photographer}, the food and event based startup lets you sign up as a host or a guest {or both, even!} and take part in culinary events. So, you get to put your cooking expertise to good use with home dining or pop-up dining events {which are mostly limited to 20-25 guests}, try out interesting cuisine by hosts around the city and meet fellow foodies, too! Perfect for those times when you’re longing to do something different.

Foodies gather

All you need to do is create an account on the Platehopper website and fill out your profile. While being a host would involve putting up or even curating a dining event, guests can pick from the event options and book a spot for themselves. Once the host approves, the required payment can be made and you can get set for some serious feasting, and in interesting locations, too {think farmhouses and lakeside places}.

Expect plenty of socialising, of course, so you come away not just with a satisfied tummy but also new friends and experiences. From a recent meal which had Mizo cuisine and live music to an upcoming Andhra specials event, foodies will find quite an exciting variety to choose from. They even have cooking classes by home chefs and cooking studios every now and then, in case you’re feeling adventurous enough to give it a try.
