Wear Your Colours: Support The Cause At The Queer And Allies Art Festival This Month

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

The Queer And Allies Art Festival is a showcase where local queer and queer-friendly artists display their artwork and their creations to the public. There’s also a few short films and performances expected, so all in all, it is a day well spent. There will also be a live poetry recital, dance performances, stand up comedy and much more at this event. Some of the performances include a fusion of Kathak and Semi Classical, by Varun Satam and Sumit Pawar {we’re hearing of this style for the first time, hands up if you are too}. And in addition to being mesmerised by the art and culture around you, why pass on the opportunity to spread equality, eh?

Who Is It For?

It is for anyone and everyone! There is no special audience and whether you’re an art lover or not, attend the fest and show your support and appreciation for the art, performance and maybe even take part in the open mic night that follows the event!

Why Should I Go For It?

Oh, you mean in addition to being part of the vibrant LGBTQ? Well, there’s plenty to look forward to. There is going to be a play by Tamilian artist Srujith Sundaram — highlighting the life of a girl after she realises her husband is gay. And don’t miss out on the film being screened here — the double awardee, Ladies and Gentle Women, directed by Malini Jeevarantham, highlighting societal views on lesbianism.
