The information in this post might be outdated

The multi-city music festival, Bacardi NH7 Weekender is almost here. But, before you head over to the Happiest Music Festival this weekend, here are some handy tips {collected from festival goers, musicians, regulars on the scene and even fashion bloggers} on how to survive the two-day musical extravaganza like a pro.

The festival essentials

"The right shoes to run between stages, the tiniest bags with just the essentials {you don't want it to come in the way when you're dancing away} and a glass of water every now and then so you can come back the next day for more music with a head that isn't crumbling to bits."

- Saba Azad {actress and member of  the electro cabaret-disco-funk band, Madboy/Mink}

Comfort is the key

"One of the most important things to keep in mind is to wear comfortable footwear. Say no to those fancy high heels or open footwear and opt for sturdy sneakers and boots."

- Nikhil Barua, Founder of The Humming Tree

Up, close and personal

"Find a spot in front of the sound console for the best view and sound."

- Sriram T. T, guitarist for Tails on Fire {a Chennai-based alternative rock band} and front man for Skrat {a Chennai-based alt, hard rock and jam band}

Plugged in

"Keep a pair of acoustic earplugs {preferably DUBS} handy to protect your ears from feedback and bad sound."

-Prateek Kuhad, Singer/Songwriter.

Plan your gig

"Mark out the artiste/bands you want to watch and check their schedules. Plan your presence in each stage to get maximum of their stage time or even plan split sets, considering there will be multiple stages going live simultaneously.  In your free time, check out the bands you didn't know about."

- Amarjeet Singha {drummer for the Bangalore-based metal band, Cheisrah}

Only cash please

Tips to survive NH7 Weekender

"If you're planning to do a spot of shopping before the music starts, it is best to carry cash as network issues might interfere with card swiping machines. While there are ATMs around the place, these might prove to be quite a walk away. Having cash at hand will definitely save you time and effort."

- Robby Banner {a city-based deephouse and techno DJ}

It's Elementary

"Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water. Also, carry a pair of shades."

Madhav Shorey aka Kohra {popular Delhi-based DJ}

"Take care not to down too many drinks and end up with a hangover on the next day. Since it's a two-day festival that involves quite a bit of walking {even, running} around, you should also be physically prepared for the fun. Take short breaks to sit down and relax, so you save up enough energy to keep you going."

- Suhas VK {manager of the city-based 5 piece melodic/metalcore band, Slither}

Dressed for success

"Wondering what to wear for the happiest music festival in town? Opt for a high-waisted, distressed boyfriend denims with a loose jumper {tucked in} and pair them up with a scarf or jacket and comfortable sneakers. Throw in a pair of earrings to accessorise. Or, you could even choose a maxi dress with a boyfriend shirt or jacket, and don a pair of sneakers/boots and layers of neckpieces to complete the look."
