Shortcut

Sway has all it takes to make it the neighbourhood’s favourite chillout place. It has a laidback, rooftop ambience, hearty food, and retro hits to stir up nostalgia. The pocket-friendly prices seal the deal.

Chow Down

Saganaki Prawns, Popcorn Chicken, Chicken Roulade

Sip On

You can order up anything from the well-stocked bar at Rewind, a watering hole {and sister-concern} that’s downstairs.

Lowdown on the Ambience

While restaurants go hammer and tongs to present dazzling ambience, Sway stands apart and doesn’t try too hard. It lets the rooftop view do the talking. They’ve hung up a few jars filled with fairy lights for added effect. For seating, you get cosy booths with stone beaches and a bare table. You are not alone if you feel like you are hanging out on the rooftop of a friend’s home with retro hits for company. #MJForever.

Hold Sway

Try the stellar Saganaki Prawns from the starters menu. The plump, whole prawns are bathed in butter before being done up in a robust Arrabiata sauce. The little lumps of feta cheese add a lovely saltiness to the whole dish. We also loved the Popcorn Chicken {chunks of chicken fried with a thin batter} that paired deliciously with the herb mayo it was served with. But we weren’t big fans of the Mozzarella Stuffed Chicken Albondigas that came with a Brava Sauce. The meatballs lacked tenderness, were chewy and the fact that they were stuffed with melted mozzarella made very little difference to the dish.

Main Attractions

The Chicken Roulade is a gem hidden amidst the long line of mains. We loved the spicy heat that the crisped layer of bacon that the round slices of chicken come wrapped in. The basil and ricotta stuffing too gave the dish a lovely creaminess. The tender shreds of the pork in the Pulled Pork Belly Burger also made it a winner. The burger was not greasy and the Sriratcha mayo gave it a really tangy kick. That said, we felt that seasoning was a bit much on this one.

So, We’re Thinking…

We think the view and robust flavours at this rooftop restaurant will ensure that you make the most of Bangalore’s glorious weather these days {especially if you go at night}. Finding a table shouldn’t be a problem during the weekdays, however, do make a reservation on the weekends.
