For those of you who love surrounding yourself with beautiful handcrafted ceramics, you'll be as excited as we were when we discovered, Mumbai-based potter, Tejashree Sagvekar and her eponymous studio. It was a post of a stack of soup bowls that we randomly found on Instagram that led us to her Instagram handle where she's most active -- be it selling her ware or just interacting with her followers. And interact we did. Her studio is based in Panvel and Tejashree works with local clay and glazes that she sources and makes it herself to produce her collection of home and tableware. There's nothing complicated about her designs, it's simple forms, very minimalist in look and feel, that get elevated by the kind of work and finishes that go into it. Which to us is the best example of the wabi-sabi philosophy.
We are talking about a range of mugs, spoons, ladles, bowls of all kinds, plates of all shapes and sizes, and decor pieces, each with unique characteristics. These characteristics which we found on the pieces that we bought from her are truly worth admiring. We have got bowls with prominent brushstrokes and our favourite, the ramen bowl that's glazed with wood ash crackle. It's truly a beautiful piece. We recommend going through the Instagram feed because there's a lot. You'll find most of the glazes are mostly shades of white, but there are a few stunning pieces in black and mustard brown.
