Back for Edition Three, the Bangalore Pet Show is great if you want to see some of the finest Indian (and international) breeds of dogs, cats, fish and birds. Plus, any other species you may call ‘Friend’.
Pet-friendly fun
Enough of the shopping, concert-going and drinking. This weekend, focus shifts to your most loyal companion – your pet (unless you’re a cat person, we can’t help their swag). We’re talking over scores of dogs (with a special focus on Indian breeds this year), 70 kinds of birds, around 30 Arabian, Persian and Norwegian cats, 50 species of aquarium fishes, ducks and rabbits, roaming about. There’ll also be stalls that will stock up on everything your furry or scaly friend will need. Think cutesy collars, fish bowls to give your crystal vase a complex, and cat beds which might even lure felines to come back home each night.
Human entertainment
Apart from that, there’s stuff even for the two-legged folk. So humans, head to the talk by canine behaviourist CV Franklin for some tips on how to get to know and understand your pooch better. Then, take the kiddies to an animal and bird-centric quiz to make it a bit educational too, before they hop on for a pony ride. There’s also a martial arts demo by Praveen Ranka’s Martial Arts Trust and a beat boxing session to keep you entertained. The best part is that if you miss going there in the morning, the entire set of non-pet entertainment will be repeated for the afternoon goers.
On the cards
Pay special attention to the Unikorn store for quirky accessories, food and other products for pets of all kinds. And while it’s not about competition but allowing pet lovers to spend a whole day with their four-legged or winged buddies, there will be a few contests. Think Most Popular, Smallest Pooch, Biggest Dog, or Most Exotic Species.
