Winning For

Hands down this place wins for giving North Bangalore a chic and elegant place to hit up. Plus, the innovative dishes and cocktails win it brownie points.

Lowdown On The Ambience

Chic, minimalist and with edgy wooden designs, potted plants of various shapes and sizes dot the space while fairy lights give it a magical touch. German-style communal seating dominates the space although wooden tables and chairs are around for privacy. The top floor is al fresco, but there’s a super cool retractable glass roof, in case it rains.

What’s On The Menu

The menu’s been inspired by owner Amit Gowda’s favourites from across 15 countries — so expect everything from tacos to tikkas. We kicked off with Vietnamese Summer Rolls — crunchy shrimp and tofu wrapped in delicate glass noodles. The Hoisin Duck Tacos {yes, indeed} came next and was a smashing hit at the table. The tacos {very similar to Chinese pancakes} were fluffy and went well with the sweet-sour hoisin the duck was doused in.

Pizzas are made in a complex looking oven, but come out tasting like an Italian Mamma’s creation. We recommend the Pizza Con Pollo with fresh basil, soft fior de latte and the earthy gruyere. Filled to the gills, but greedy for more, Travancore Fish Curry and Grilled Lobster were ordered. Juicy, grilled to perfection and stuffed with an indulgent orange and coriander hollandaise sauce, we could have the lobster over and over. The fish curry, redolent with spices {Kashmiri chilli, ginger and fenugreek} is made better with the sharp flavours of kokum and shallots. Homely yet professional. And it comes with typical red rice which Kerala adores! The Pumpkin Ravioli is avoidable and so is the Thai Curry. We can’t wait to try out the burgers and sandwiches though.

Cheers To That

Alas beer is still being brewed, but the quirky cocktails and mocktails make up for it for now. Aztec Coffee is a solid hit with espresso Martini, vodka proofed coffee and chocolate topped with cardamom foam. Try saying no to that! Want a mocktail? Smoking Pistol with orange and pineapple juice muddled with smoked rosemary and caramelised pineapple should do the trick.

So, We’re Thinking…

The best thing to happen around the Sahakar Nagar area since the airport flyovers, The Druid Garden is a great place to relax and unwind under the stars. Throw in beer and live music, and it’s almost heaven, right?

The place is only open post 5pm. So no day time plans here.
