A new co-living space for travellers and backpackers, The Meditating Monkeys is more than just a bed and breakfast.

Wanderers gather

Backpackers heading to Bangalore don’t have to make do with those dull hotel rooms anymore. Here’s a cool new place “designed for travellers, by travellers”, right in town. Driven by their common love for travelling, Vineeth Vincent (city-based beatboxer, MC and host) and partners Ananth Uthappa and Tabea Victoria (Ananth’s wife) started The Meditating Monkeys (around two months ago), a co-living space for the backpacking community. The place sees a diverse group of travel enthusiasts, including artists and musicians from as far as Germany, Brazil and Russia.

Clean lifestyle

With seven uncluttered rooms (private as well as dorm rooms, all with attached bathrooms) and ample community space across two floors, the hostel can accommodate 22 people. Apart from free internet, coffee and tea throughout the day and complimentary breakfast, they have a community kitchen that is fully equipped, in case you feel like cooking up a little storm. They also offer lunch and dinner for a reasonable amount (INR 90 for each meal). But, nothing fancy, we must tell you. Going by the concept of “clean living”, Sattvic food is what you can expect at this place. Which also means they don’t allow smoking, drinking or drugs. But, with lots of conversation, fellow backpackers and even, occasional Brazilian Forro dance classes to keep you engaged, we think this space is worth checking out if you’re heading to the city.
