Ten-second takeway

Desi Fries, Mutton Biryani and Chilli Chicken

Brownie Blizzard and Cinnamon Spiced Latte

Winning for

Homely food that is spot-on for taste and easy on the wallet

What’s in a name?

Not particularly innovative but greatly intriguing, when a place is called The Place Behind Desserted {which it is by the way}, you go. And you’re in for a real treat because this one has all the comfort food you’ll ever need. From Indian Chinese, Mughlai, South Indian or snacky nibbles you’ll be spoiled for choice. So armed with huge appetites we started with Desi Fries, Paneer Tikka and Malai Chicken Tikka. Desi Fries just throws in curry powder and leaves to the eternal favourite and makes it much better. The paneer is soft and clearly fresh while the chicken is succulent and will easily pass off as mains with biryani or a few rotis.

Tucking in

Ditch every diet you’re on as the biryani here {mutton, for us} is simply delicious. Chicken Fry – the sinful and addictive kebab, is great too and while we did like the butter chicken with roti, Chilli Chicken with {greasy} veggie noodles cut it too. Weren’t we chuffed to get two types of comfort food at the same address! And then you throw in proper burgers and massive sandwiches {try the Croque Monsieur or  Croque Madame} and you’ve got a culinary party going.

Sweet everythings

Dessert comes from next door, their sister concern called Desserted {that’s why the name duh!}, so there’s no dearth of it. The Lemon Tart, ice cream sundaes and shelves of cakes from Black Forest to Dark Chocolate await. So get ready for a real indulgence. Milkshakes such as the Brownie Blizzard works like a meal because they’re divinely chunky but go easy on the food as they really do mean it when they say you’ll be Desserted. Finish off with a Cinnamon Spiced Coffee like us, if you want to come around full circle.

The DL on ambience

Not really a place for art deco, it’s a bungalow that’s been converted into a cutesy red-white themed little restaurant. Marble top tables and benches keep it fun and casual, and set the mood for a chilled out meal. Works great for even just a coffee catch-up.

So we’re thinking…

Comfort, soul, greasy, street. Call it what you will but with biryani, sandwiches, kebabs and desserts to die {kill} for, this one’s stolen our weak-for-food hearts.
