Spend a weekend running wild at the Periyar National Park. Surrounded by hills that are covered in thick, green forests, the Park is one of India’s best known tiger reserves. At the centre of the park lies an artificial lake and you can cruise along its waters to spot wildlife. Elephants especially are a common sight around the lake. But the park is home to deer, bisons, gaurs, and langurs. Thekkady also makes a great base from where you can explore nearby attractions like Kumily and Murikkady, that are famous for their spice plantations
