This Travel Cafe In Koramangala Is A Hit With Us For Its Delish Vegan Vegetarian Menu

Ten-Second Takeaway

Off The Radar is Bangalore’s first travel cafe and keeping in mind its theme, the menu here is vegetarian with plenty of options for vegans too. There’s also thukpa for hill station like feels.

Winning For

The rich vegetarian menu with plenty of vegan options, vegan milkshakes, and of course that dreamy travel-cafe ambience that’ll make you want to come back.

Lowdown On The Ambience

For folks who are into travelling or love the idea of it, this quaint little place with its beautiful decor and travel curios such as maps, globes, and prayer flags is going to transport you straight to those charming cafes of up north. Our favourite spot is a dreamy corner with a beautifully painted, colourful owl as the backdrop and a rooftop painted to resemble an open sky with fluffy clouds. Also, huge shout out to the music selection. Everything from your Ed Sheeran to Bob Dylan to Coldplay is played on loop here.

Vegans, Lettuce Celebrate

In Bangalore, it’s really hard to find a good vegetarian restaurant that serves equally good vegan options. And it’s not like we have any beef {sorry!} with vegan food, but our experience has been mixed. Well, luck was on our side as Off The Radar seems to have solved it. Remember when we said that the cafe is all about travel? You’ll find that same thought is translated to the colourfully designed menu or “Wanderer Menu” as we unofficially nicknamed it. With quirkily named items such as The Amazonian {fresh grilled veggie salad with mayo dressing} to Backpacker’s Glee {spaghetti pasta}, you see why we named it the Wanderer Menu, right?

We started off with the Himalayan Thukpa soup, a warm and flavourful noodle soup cooked with tomatoes, carrots, and cabbages. The thick broth and the well-cooked noodles {vegan} made the whole dish deliciously slurpy. Since we had asked for a spicy thukpa, we wanted something sweet next. Being the Peanut Butter aficionados that we are, we ordered the Peanut Butter-Chocolate sandwich. The sandwich is made from toasted brown bread and spread with a generous amount of in-house peanut butter and chocolate sauce. We loved the rich gooey consistency of the PBC and how it stuck to the roof of our mouth {we are weird that way}. Next up {we are forever hungry} was the delicious-sounding Spanish Tomatina. This red-sauce pasta is made from vegan penne and is like a mini La Tomatina Festival, thanks to the rich, flavourful, and thick layer of red sauce coating the penne. Finished with zucchini, bell peppers, broccoli, and celery, you’ll definitely go for round two like we did. Also, if you like spice, you can ask the chef to turn the heat on. You’ll still be able to taste all that flavour along with that extra spice!

Vegan We Like

We love the menu because, like we said, it’s really hard for a vegetarian or even a vegan to find some good grub in Bangalore. And the menu is not limited to just pastas and sandwiches. You’ve milkshakes made from soy milk {regular milk option available as well}, hot chocolate made from a mix of almond and soy milk for a richer and creamier texture, caffeine-free herbal infusions, and vegan desserts that include pudding and yogi bars.

So We Are Thinking...

On days when we want to go off the radar and unwind, we are coming here for that quiet ambience and good food. Also, we need to try that hugely popular Pasta Italiano that’s made from almond milk.
