Ten-second takeaway

Noted columnist and editor, Samar Halarnkar, takes you on a whirlwind tour of Richard's Town before inviting you home for breakfast.

Of bungalows and Raintrees

Amble past old-world bungalows, parks , churches, and mosques as Samar lends his perspective on the neighbourhood he calls home. Oozing with colonial charm and speckled with rows of raintrees, Richard's Town now has an eclectic mix of people and Samar offers a sneak peek into how modern lives play out. A long-time resident of the area, Samar has over the years noticed the drastic {not always pleasant} changes that have occurred, in this quiet pocket of town, and wants to share its beauty before it all vanishes.

Chef editor

An hour later, you can walk over to the Samar’s, and his wife Priya’s flat for a homemade breakfast of brown dosas with a healthy, green chutney or stuffed omelettes with sausages. There’s also fried eggs and fresh fruit being offered. Samar has spent the last 30 years honing his skills in the kitchen {we love his regular column in Mint Lounge dedicated to his experiments in the pantry} and the family loves entertaining, so, you are in for a one-of-a-kind Saturday morning.

The experience is being offered through Door No., a new app that brings together local hosts with guest diners over home-cooked meals.
