Beer, Banter & Goals: Here's Where You Can Watch The FIFA World Cup 2018 Live

The information in this post might be outdated

After four years of waiting, it’s that football leap year again, and Germany will attempt to defend their world title. Yup, it’s time for FIFA World Cup 2018, and we’re pumped. Sure some of you will be rooting for old favourite Argentina, Spain, Brazil and Germany, but hey Hazard fans have Belgium to root for, and all Asians have Japan and South Korea to cheer on. But of course, the eternal battle of where to watch these game in action will rule all WhatsApp groups called FIFA World Cup 2018. To end that trouble of finding places that are screening the football world cup, we’ve picked out places to catch the actions live. From quiet spots for the solid fan to pubs that will be all about the screaming and possibly swearing, we’ve got it sorted for you from now, until the finals on July 15 even if you didn’t make it to Russia!

Arbor Brewing Company

When it comes to watching football, the first place that pops into one’s head is Arbor. Or it should be. Being the home pub of our very own Bengaluru FC, this place is where all the true fans head to. And the best part? There is respect for the game, and for competition. So if you’re wearing Argentina colours when they play Iceland, and there’s a Viking fan, all you need to do is buy the winner a beer, and banter takes centre stage. We love the camaraderie at Arbor. Of course the Bangalore Bliss beer, the nachos, burgers with sweet potato fries and options to watch the game at five different screens, makes this our favourite. Oh, and for the World Cup, they have a stellar deal running, where you can pre-buy your drinks. If you order 20 beers, you get it at a 15 per cent discount, while if you get 60 beers, the price is only INR 11,250 for them all, at a solid 25 per cent off the original price.

Prebook your beer here, and have them through the football month. You’ll probably need more in fact, as there are 64 games in total.

Aloft Bengaluru

Over at the Cessna Business Park, Aloft is where you should head to for those crucial matches of your favourite team. Why? Because we know how infuriating non-fans talking about non-football things can be, at other pubs and bars. At the W XYZ bar, you can watch in peace, sipping on your favourite cocktail, or just glug down beer. In fact, they have a deal which gets your four pints for just INR 599 all though the football world cup month. That’s until July 15, in case you didn’t know.

Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Cafe’s rock and roll music is often drowned by the boisterous football fans during club matches. Expect the same energy and vibe when Portugal takes on Spain during Match Day 1. Place your bets, order a couple of beers along with portions of Original Hard Rock Onion Rings, Rockin’ Wings, and Red Hot Chilli Fries to order. During halftime, order yourself one of their burgers such as the Original Legendary Burger or the Hickory Barbeque Bacon Cheeseburger! To top it all, during matches there will be offers to keep you cheering loud and clear!  You will need to go to Hard Rock Cafe during the major match days to see what the offers are but expect great deals.

Monkey Bar

Monkey Bar’s World Cup 2018 menu is aptly named Halftime and includes fun bar bites and nibbles to help you stay focused, energised, and cheer for your stars — be it during Brasil’s first group match or Germany’s final group match with South Korea. For constant nibblers, there’s the Football Farsan that comes with a mix of curry and parmesan popcorn, chilli-rosemary peanuts, and foxnuts in a honey-togarashi coating and the Chicken Dip and Corn Chips. Trust us when we say you will need more of them corn chips! Kahn’s Hot Dog and Mexican Wave, which are soft tortillas with chipotle chicken are for all your halftime discussions. Salty Fingers and No. 10, which is chilli pork belly, are the perfect pass around if you are coming with the gang. Salty Fingers are fish with home chips and a piquant chilli-pineapple salsa! There’s one-plus-one deals on drinks and pitchers to make things a lot for lively!

Sutra, The Lounge

Skip the loud bars and hit up Sutra at The Lalit Ashok for a more quiet viewing of the games. And no, you don’t need to be quiet yourself. We just mean that the ambient noise (also called EDM sometimes) will not be taking away from the screen. All through the World Cup, they have a liquid buffet and starters for just INR 1,599, and we think it’s well worth it. After all, you do need to fuel up to keep those chants going.

The Open Box

At best of times TOB is great fun to watch games, be it cricket, hockey or football. So you can only imagine what the World Cup buzz will be like here. They have a massive projector on one end of the lounge bar, and you can see the screen from practically anywhere — a win-win for everyone. Also no bobbing heads ahead of you, if you’re under 5’5”. We also love that TOB has different deals, almost every day of the week, so you can enjoy pizzas and cocktails on a 1+1 offer on Monday, get food and drinks for INR 99 upwards on Friday, and play games (no, not on screen) on their Game Night Wednesdays, to keep yourself entertained. This is also a fine place to take your non-hardcore football friends — the match is on for anyone who wants to watch, but the whole restaurant doesn’t change for the duration of the competition.

Xtreme Sports Bar

If you like it loud and crazy, you’ve got to be at Xtreme Sports Bar. Watch games at Xtreme Sports Bars in Indiranagar, New BEL Road and Sarjapur Road, if you’re ready to mix with boisterous and maybe slightly drunk fellow football fans. The food and beer is rather cheap here. You can get beer dispensers for INR 899 and ensure no one else shares with you, but hey, in the sporting spirit, share! There are pitcher and bucket deals on beer too, so make sure you choose wisely. Chicken wings, nachos, tikkas (chicken and paneer) are great sides to give you energy through all the cheering.

The Beer Cafe

Beer and sports go hand in hand, right? The Beer Cafe is bringing the two together this World Cup where you can cheer for your team and win free beers with their Bet My Tap offer! Oh yes, whether you are supporting Argentina, Brasil, France or even Belgium, or even putting hopes on those low key matches like Poland v Senegal or Egypt v Saudi Arabia, there’s a chance for you and your friends to win beer! Head to your nearest The Beer Cafe outlet and start betting and predicting and putting your money on match winners, the number of goals that will be scored, and the man of the match. Pair your match shenanigans with their finger food such as Dutch Fries, Patata Bravas, Chicken Nachos, and substantial bites like pizzas and grill food!

Double Decker

A massive rooftop screen is what awaits you at Double Decker. While they haven’t launched any deals as such, order pitchers of draught beer, Egg Chilli, Onion Rings, and Pork Dumplings and you’ve got the perfect setting for any match whether it’s Portugal v Spain or Iran v Morocco. The whole space is perfect for game nights with us frequenting the place during club matches. Bar stools, swing chairs, and long tables are perfect whether you are checking in with your BFF or your entire squad!

Street Mama

Along with beer, and live match screenings, Street Mama is dishing out a Russian menu as well as football props and gear for you to sport while cheering for your team. About the food menu, pick from typical Russian street style fares such as Blini Losos, St. Petersberg, and Pelmeni Dumplings. The Blini is a smoked salmon cream and fish roe topped mini canapes while Petersberg is skewered lamb meat and squash. Skipping beer? Order an array of Russian cocktails such as Moscow Mule, The White Russian, The Black Russian, Raspberryoska and Vodkatinis. There are also activities to a part in guys! So get your football facts right and you could walk away with surprise goodies.

Bar Bar

Watch the World Cup with a side of banter and community cocktails that have been specially crafted for this FIFA season. Fans can order themselves cocktails such as Mermaid Punch and Passion Float or pick from beer cocktails or beertails as Bar Bar calls them in interesting options such as Cuba Weiser and Bud Coolant. These can be paired with platters to share in the form of paneer tikkas, beer battered mushrooms, buttermilk chicken popcorn, and chilli chicken.
