Aiming to make yoga accessible to everyone, and very literally so, the folks at The Practice Room are hosting a two-month session for anyone with any kind of limiting condition.
After an overwhelming response to their one-day trial, The Practice Room has announced a two-month series for amputees and polio survivors in collaboration with One Step At A Time, a Bangalore-based community which connects and supports the differently-abled. With the aim of helping those in chronic pain or psychological distress, the session will focus on precise internal and external alignment to strengthen the entire body. The idea is to hold each asana for longer periods with the help of any necessary props, to address the imbalance, so that the effects are more impactful, and can really be felt at the core.
If you're hestitating still, then perhaps give it a try and it'll help give you a confidence boost. The more you practice, the better the quality of life becomes, they hope. Also, it is said to decrease the frequency and duration of painful sensations in addition to helping with flexibility and balance. The entire session is free of charge.
